June 6, 201610 yr Well I don't know if Cleveland has the big guy to do it, but, here goes. You can't go small with GS and match up with them, they are the best at what they do, and that's what they do. Cleveland has tried that and it ain't working So, with that, how about taking it back a few years, when the post/5 man was an important part of the game, and some teams were even built around the post. Put Mosgov in there and run the offense through him. I mean, nothing else is working right? And he had a pretty darn good series last year. Force GS to either play Bogut more to try and defend the big man, or, if GS doesn't do that, stays small and tries to double team, pass out of the post to some open shooters and take your chances. At least then you might create some ball movement out of the post rather than the stagnant offense Cleveland runs. Heard on the radio this morning that Erving is 4-27 on shots where he didn't catch the ball off a pass/assist possibility. That's just not getting it done. I'm not sure Lue can adjust what Cleveland does on the fly to adequately challenge GS.
June 6, 201610 yr Your point on Irving is right on. He gives up too many points to not be an effective/efficient scorer.
June 6, 201610 yr GS D has been good but not suffocating, but the Cavs are making them look like the 86 Bears D. Cavs look they'd have trouble scoring in a brothel with coats made out of $100 bills.
June 6, 201610 yr It's gotta be the LeBron James Show from this point on, and I don't mean the two dribble pull up jumper LeBron either. If ever there was a time I would give him flak for being too passive, this would be it. Surely he remembers how close the games were when he was dominating the ball last season. We expected this year to be closer because Bron would have help, but at some point it has to become clear they are the help, and he is the best player on the floor.

There is very little ball movement/flow to their offense as it is, I don't know that him dominating the ball even more helps. And as good as LJ is, he CAN'T do it by himself, he just can't.

And as good as LJ is, he CAN'T do it by himself, he just can't. Every bit of that is true, I just can't help but wonder if the outcome could really be any worse. Overly passive LeBron is more maddening than any JR Smith shot to me, and I hate 95% of JR's shots.
June 6, 201610 yr Offense: - Go BIG - Slow the game down (score in 80s) - Balance inside/perimeter - don't get in a 3 pt shooting contest Defense: - Find in transition - Mix it up on perimeter - doubles, switching picks - Foul - Bogut, Iggy, Barnes You can't outscore GS in a fast-paced, 3 pt shooting game. They are too good. Need to slow them down, not let them get out to a huge lead (where they will pass/cut you to death), and make them defend the rim against size. And - hope they miss. I recognize my strategy will lead to match-up challenges, but playing GS's game isn't a winning approach - they are clearly the best at what they do.
June 6, 201610 yr LeBron had Curry on him last night, on a switch, on the block, twice that I can recall. Once he diagonally passed it to an open shooter, once he took a turn-around...just befuddles me. I'm fully rooting for the Warriors, but why does LBJ just not bully Curry into the basket? There were about 10x last night where I literally said to my son, "I just don't know what they're doing." Side-note: 15 years ago today Iverson shook Lue, buried a shot on him, and then stepped over him in beautiful fashion. It perfectly personifies the first two games of this series. :sssh:

He doesnt have anything mentally to bring to the game.
June 7, 201610 yr OKC had 'em dead to rights. How did they (almost) do it? They have basketball talent on their team, makes a huge difference.
June 7, 201610 yr OKC had 'em dead to rights. How did they (almost) do it? They were a team that plays fast too, and can play fast with the Warriors buy also have length to go with it. The Warriors are a bad match up for most teams, while the Thunder was a tough Match up for them. The 3 point shot was the difference that helped the Warriors pull it out.
June 7, 201610 yr They must set the pace, limit GS possessions and protect the ball. They are capable of winning a game but it isn't going to be easy.
June 7, 201610 yr OKC had 'em dead to rights. How did they (almost) do it? They played at a pace that even Golden State couldn't keep up with and they focused on defense. They also dominated the boards and never let Draymond Green get comfortable. They used their length to bother Steph and Klay when they had the ball. Then they lost their mental toughness and crapped the bed. They self destructed in front of the whole world.
