May 25, 201610 yr Put extra anchovies on my slice. I got you... sounds fishy to you. That was pretty clever.
May 26, 201610 yr Ultimately that is the issue, the issue is the Union is its own worst enemy because sometimes the slugs need to lose their job. On the other side of things I worked with a lot of highly skilled men and women that had only had a Union in name with little or no powers associated with a real Union and in our case the company walked all over us whenever they felt like it. Sounds like the CWA
May 26, 201610 yr That was the union I was associated with. Me too...WAS being key. Left early last year.. Funny that the Union VP is now in HR sitting with the company that was was suppose to be negotiating our contract with. They all lie in the same flea ridden bed.
May 26, 201610 yr You are gullible. There's a lot more to this story. For starters: How many grievances have been filed against this company over the past 18 months, and how many have been resolved? Any way you look at it, this grievance reflects poorly on management. What's going on here doesn't sound like a healthy work environment, does it? Why does there have to be more to the story? Why can't it just be there are several whiny, self absorbed jerks that think they're entitled to more?
May 27, 201610 yr Why does there have to be more to the story? Why can't it just be there are several whiny, self absorbed jerks that think they're entitled to more? Because no union local grievance committee would give something this trivial the green light to proceed ... unless it's part of a larger strategy. That's my best guess. I know, the simple answer that you seek is that union members are losers, but there's more to this story. Remember: Businesses hate grievances. Not because they're necessarily afraid of losing them, but because they're major time-consumers.
May 27, 201610 yr This conversation reminds me a lot of the quote from remember the titans "attitude reflects leadership... captain"

I know we have a couple whiney jerks that feel entitled where I work (non union) so I don't see why it can't be the same in a union setting.

Exactly and to think that some Union Stewards and others don't go out of their way to file them as a way of "Putting it to the company" is naive also.
