Are more people dropping facebook?

Featured Replies

Have had some conversations in the office, and sounds like more and more people are actually closing their Facebook accounts (older people sounds like, maybe 40+ age range). Sounds like a backlash against social media and all the stuff, which a lot of can be negative, that comes with it. Anyone seeing this?

No and all the analytics in the world are pointing the exact opposite. Social media isn't going anywhere.

My observations would agree with Bench. Social media is growing and growing.

Sounds like nothing but small town thinking Big.

Didn't say social media I general, pointed out Facebook specifically. I'm quite sure Facebook gets new members every day from all over the globe, as does Twitter, Snapchat, etc., but from just my relatively small section of the world, I hear more and more people say they are doing away with Facebook.

I get more news off Facebook then the actual news it self.

Never had a facebook account. Does that make me weird or genius?

Are you on FB?

I am selective with whom I befriend, but otherwise it is a great place to keep up with family pics...especially grandkids, high school reunions and the latest cat videos. I have heard a lot of the millennials prefer to tweet and that hasn't caught on with me at all.

Yes, though I am probably as inactive a user as you will find, post very rarely but will look at pics some friends post every now and then. Made a post last Monday thanking all the birthday well wishers who posted on my page.

It doesn't matter the platform .

FB is not going anywhere anytime soon. I think the demographic may be getting older. My college kids use twitter a lot more, and rarely post on their FB account. I don't post as much as I used to, but it's still a great way to keep up with old friends, share pictures with relatives etc. FB has over 1.2 billion users worldwide. And it's a critical piece to many small companies advertising campaigns.

I think anymore the majority of my Facebook activity is just getting on the local news stations pages and reading the generally hilarious/idiotic comments posted in some of the bigger or controversial news stories.

I rarely post anything on Facebook. I know of quite a few folks that have walked away from Facebook but not Twitter or Instagram.

My age demo was with the start of facebook. You had to have a .edu or other campus address to join and the network was much smaller. As it has expanded, the 35+ demographic has risen, but those younger are not near as active on facebook.

Same here. I remember when we would post about anything on there because only other college students would see it. That and we didn't know any better.
