Do you still churn your own butter as well?

That...was...FUNNY!

If I am your friend on FB I will apologize in advance. My wife posts a new picture of my kid literally everyday. Other than being tagged in those I can't think of the last time I posted on FB. I open it and look through the pictures and that's about it. I don't think FB has reached it's peak yet.

I agree. It's slowly becoming a cycle. I know kids finishing up college who are coming back to Facebook now that they are starting families, starting careers, moving away from their hometown and things like that. Facebook is becoming the #1 social media website for families and the like. There are old/mature people everywhere on Facebook. Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram have a grasp on the kids. When they outgrow those then they come back to Facebook.

Agreed, my cousin who is in HS only uses Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Not even on FB.

Neither does Zuckerberg.

I'm 52. I love staying connected with family and old high school friends who live literally all over the world. Sure you put up with a lot of pictures of food being made but how long does it take to scroll by that?

I've been introduced to new music/shows/books via FB. Love it.

Bigger issue is everyone needing to spout off on religion and politics. STOP!

Try it! Not only do you get a very good product but the residual of exercise is a plus. :lol2:

I dumped it a year or more ago. I've more or less forgotten it exists since then, which tells me it had very little utility for me. Twitter is essential for me. I've been using Insta and Snapchat on a smaller scale too.

It seems the theme in this thread, and my personal experience as well, is that the younger demo have gotten increasingly jaded with it. I get the sense a lot of people remain users out of inertia or routine rather than because it is useful.

My high school kids tell me FB is for old people. They do almost 100% of their social media on on instagram and snapchat.

Never had a facebook account. Does that make me weird or genius?

Great minds think alike, I've never had a Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter account.

I did the exact same thing and agree with everything you said. Out of habit I used to open a browser and type facebook or hit the app when I was bored. I was never too active, but browsed quite a bit. I realized with the majority of my "friends" my level of interest in what they had to say was inversely related to both how much they posted and how much I cared what they thought about most things. I think I was also subconsciously put off by the fact that since you choose what you post, a lot of people tried to put off that they are happier or more important/interesting/successful than they really are.

One day I stopped logging in, then a month or two later pretty much forgot about facebook and deactivated my account. I'm sure there are some downsides, and just about everything you sign up for online has a facebook option that I cannot use, but for me personally, dropping that habit has been by far a net positive.

Agreed. I dropped mine almost 4 years ago. Took me about 3 days to get used to not clicking on the FB app on my phone. Haven't missed it once.

Twitter plummeted today on horrible sales.

Facebook shares rise on Q1 earnings beat

SAN FRANCISCO — Facebook delivered a bit relief to Wall Street on Wednesday with another earnings beat.Shares rose 6% in extended trading.Facebook reported earnings of 77 cents per share. Analysts expected Facebook to report earnings per share of 62 cents, up 48% from 42 cents one year ago, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence.Facebook generated revenue of $5.382 billion in the first quarter. Revenue was expected to increase about 50% to $5.25 billion, up from $3.5 billion a year ago.Facebook reported first-quarter financial results after the markets closed on Wednesday.Earnings season has not been kind to the tech industry — Google, Microsoft, Apple and Twitter are among those whose first-quarter results disappointed investors. Wall Street had hoped Facebook would be the exception.

I used to do FB, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Now I do FB and Snapchat with regularity. Instagram when I'm bored occasionally. And I only use Twitter if I want to check out breaking news stories (like the polar bear getting loose at the zoo lol).

One of the biggest reasons I still use FB though is because of the animal rescue I work with operates mostly only through FB. Between the group messages, posting of dogs/cats on the main page for potential adopters to see, behind the scenes workings on our private page, etc. there is constantly something going on that needs checked. I think FB is great for things like that.
