I'd take a Murray/Levine back court over Rubio. Rubio can't shoot and no team is going to take that contract.

I don't think Murray makes sense in Minnesota but I don't get paid to make those decisions. If anything I would work on developing that bench or deciding on whether or not they are staying with Rubio as the PG. LaVine, Wiggins, Dieng and KAT are one helluva nucleus with Shabazz Muhammed coming off the bench.

Murray and Muhammed would be lethal off the bench but I feel like Murray in the right spot on the right team can contribute immediately. I'm digressing but I'd love to see Murray on the Nuggets or even the Kings even though I have no clue what the Kings are doing right now. Even the Sixers could be a good spot for Murray. Isn't Murray a pg? Hasn't he played it is whole life? I believe he even said he is more comfortable at the point and why it took him awhile to get going this year since it was his first year playing off the ball since UK had Ullis. Murray makes sense to me because he can very easily play the pg spot but also could play off the ball. We are evaluating him as a 2 because he never got to play the pg spot for UK. I think if he played the pg spot we would have seen him as a better version of Brandon Knight who I loved.

 

Which going to the Wolves and having to play the pg spot with La vine next to him would be a very good back court imo.

First of all, I like alliteration a lot...

 

Secondly, I don't like Murray there at all. Rubio is a true point guard in the traditional sense, which should benefit Wiggins in the long run, and I think we can agree he and Towns are the foundation upon which this franchise will be built. The last thing either of those guys need is another guy in the starting line up who needs shots.

 

Murray is going to be a really good player somewhere, MSG comes to mind, but in my mind, Minnesota isn't the place.

 

As for Thibs, I was thinking about him at work yesterday and I hoped this is where he would end up.

People forget that Murray had to play the off guard spot at UK, came in as a PG. It was an unnatural move he had to make. I have presumed he would be back to the PG role in the NBA, but I might be wrong.

 

If the Wolves want to take that next step, Rubio is not the long term answer at PG. He could collect some thefts, but guarding the ball he was brutal. Murray doesn't give me much hope he is light years ahead of Rubio, but I think he ultimately can bring more to the table. In a perfect world LaVine would grow into a 6th Man of the Year candidate. He has that type of skill. The Wolves ended up starting him a good chunk of the season, and he had his moments, but to me he is best served as a lethal reserve.

 

As for needs, you are right in that they need a stretch player, but I think a stretch wing. Maybe a Ryan Anderson type? The Timberwolves were dreadful from long range.

I am so pumped for next season. Many didn't get to watch Towns as much as I did, but the guy is a player. And he can shoot.

A few issues though. I don't think Murray handles the ball well enough to run the point. Seemed very sloppy with the ball. I don't think he can ever become the type of PG you need to win a ring. I think he can be a great 2 though. I don't know that Lavine is a 1 either, but that's what Minny has always wanted from him. Perhaps if they share duties, they can get it done. Lavine is athletic enough to guard the 1 on defense, and 2 guard is so weak in the NBA right now that Murray could do fine guarding it. Neither seem to provide what KAT and Wiggins will need from a distributor though.

Which imo shows how good of a player he is. He played on the ball his whole life but this year learned how to play off the ball and how to work to get open and come off screens, etc. This will only make him that much better of a player and useful for a NBA team since he can do both.

JMO, but I think he plays off the ball in the NBA.

Murray won't be able to check any starting pg halfway effectively in the West. I'd rather take Kris Dunn for Providence with that pick.

Then when you add the fact that there was no one else to even pass the ball to who could score would make him even less likely to distribute the ball. Cal wanted him and Ullis to be the whole offense together basically.

I know. My point is that if he is a natural PG and couldn't beat out Ulis for the PG spot and in turn looks like a natural 2G then how will he beat out proven NBA PGs?
