A "Flat Tax" Is Just a Giveaway to the Rich

If I pay less taxes, and Government bureaucracy like the IRS is dismantled...I don't really care how much Oprah or George Clooney pay in taxes.

 

Elimination in Estate/Death Tax is long over due...it is just a Government money grab.

You say that is the "topic" and certainly made sure to try to get it back on topic. But all these other posts, talking about people not working, and not paying any taxes, they don't get directed back to getting "on topic."

 

That's because the topic is really just bashing low income people, and telling falsehoods about them, such as they don't work, and don't pay taxes. That's the topic, and it has been a favorite topic of the republican party for a long time.

 

You really do have trouble staying on topic, but I understand why. It beats dealing with facts, doesn't it? You were wrong, it's ok to admit it, we already know.

Just making sure. I often get the feeling by reading this stuff that I'm illegal or lazy or "making money off the government" or a fool.

It is just data. The numbers in the article are true. You can spin them however you like, you can draw your own conclusions. The fact remains that the data presented here is true.

 

Challenge the mindset of those who are name calling but if your defense is saying it isn't true, you are wrong and you have lost your argument before it begins.

Exactly. I believe this may be where we are missing the boat on this here on BGP. This number is growing doesn't tell us that we have more lazy do-nothings but instead pay is so far behind that many are working in jobs making so they little don't have a tax liability.

Actually, every part of my post was correct, because I paid attention to the words. I said less than 8 percent of the people pay no federal taxes. That's correct.

 

But if you are so concerned about staying "on topic", why don't you call out all your confederate posters who post about people not working? That there is a group of people who don't pay income tax does not mean they are not working. But for some not-so-strange reason you don't call them out. The whole purpose of this thread is to take a number, post it, and then twist it and launch into a series of diatribes about the working poor.

You remind me of my kids when they had no argument and were caught trying to divert the conversation rather than simply admitting they were wrong. The good old "but he did it too" excuse. Of course they outgrew that at about twelve.

I haven't been a part of it since I was around 20 yrs. old, maybe I need a new tax accountant.

Does this 45% count children? Does it start for 18 year olds?

The article said households so I assume working dependents are included with the parents.

If you had any tax liability at all your household would not be included in the 45% regardless of your kid's circumstances.
