April 15, 201610 yr Chris Beard is meeting with Texas Tech per ESPN about their HC opening. Think they may still go after Mick? UNLV couldn't have handled the last 5 weeks any worse if they had made that their goal. Now their brand new coach, who is going after EVERY Transfer in America with gusto, is interviewing in Lubbock?!
April 15, 201610 yr UNLV couldn't have handled the last 5 weeks any worse if they had made that their goal. Now their brand new coach, who is going after EVERY Transfer in America with gusto, is interviewing in Lubbock?! That's exactly what I was thinking... UNLV seems to have no clue on what is going on or what they're doing. This program is going to be BAD next year.
April 15, 201610 yr The way this coaching search debacle has gone, they should start working on looking for a new athletic director
April 15, 201610 yr How is this coach leaving for another job the AD's fault? Not sure it is but it doesn't look good for the AD if the coach he just hired is looking for another job.

April 15, 201610 yr How is this coach leaving for another job the AD's fault? the coach leaving is not the AD's fault, but the past couple of months haven't been good. UNLV started looking for a new head coach in mid January. Since then they had Cronin visit and say no, they hired Beard and 2 weeks later he left. Things happen, but when you brag to the media about your search process and have results like this, it's not looking good. UNLV can be a very, very good program and return to being one of the best in the country. But it continues to slip further into mediocrity. She's got a great background in sports, but the athletics at UNLV are not in good shape.
April 16, 201610 yr Looks like Vegas has their man. UNLV Rebels agree to hire Marvin Menzies as new head coach
April 17, 201610 yr Looks like Vegas has their man. UNLV Rebels agree to hire Marvin Menzies as new head coach Cronin, Menzies.........two former assistants of Rick Pitino. Other former assistants as head coaches off the top of my head: Willard, Keatts (sp) (UNC Asheville), Padgett (Samford), Tubby, Richard Pitino, Masiello. Who am I missing? Billy Donovan (NBA), Davenport (Bellarmine), Sean Woods (Morehead or Eastern)..???? He has established a pretty good coachoing tree.

I wouldn't exactly consider Richard Pitino and Massiello a good branch of a tree yet
