Very proud of the fight Mercer showed tonight! Will Hager is going to be missed. I'm sure he will continue to make mercer county proud! Mink made some great plays in the 1st half that kept it close at the break, he will also be missed, allong with Conner, Drew,Jackson and Malik. Wish them all the best! Thanks guys for all you've done, and know that the whole county appreciates each and every one of you! Good luck also to Dylan James. You will have a lot of fans 2hrs west next year..... I was very proud and impressed with the basketball Titans tonight. They played a great game against an outstanding team. The Titans were very tough and battled all night. I got to coach Drew & Malik. Those guys fought through an 0-5 football start. They hung in there and were team first guys every time they stepped on the field or floor. Will Hager competes and leads about as well as anyone I have watched in any sport. Impressive. The other players on this team are good guys and student-athletes you enjoy watching / supporting. Like our Lady Titans, these are kids that are fun to watch and support.

 

Dunbar has a great basketball team. Congratulations to the Bulldogs.

True. A testament to how good both teams are.

That might have been the state title game. Although bowling green has a nice team with guards that can handle the ball and Taylor inside. A matchup of possibly the two frontrunners for 2017 mr basketball, Hollingsworth vs Taylor.

Quick comment about Mercer senior Malik Dow. I believe he started on a Ballard team with Q. Snyder and K. Martin as a freshman in '13. I was surprised he came off the bench as a senior for Mercer. I know he was the 6th man but seeing him freshman yr thought he would be a certian kentucky all star by this yr. What was his reason for leaving Ballard?

Shows that this game was ridiculously close all the way, anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves. One of the best games of the tourney on day one.

Agree! He came up with a big a steal towards the end and his only 2 points were big for his team.

That Mercer full court desperation shot for the tie there at the end was SO crazy close.

 

It wouldn't have counted. Only .2 left on clock, which requires it to be a tip.

One question I have from watching and maybe some of you basketball minds can help me out on this. Why didn't Mercer put any of their players on the lane when they shot FT's? The only time they did it last night was in the 4th quarter.

So the James kid plays at sheldon Clark his Freshman year, moves to Mercer for 2 years, and is now going back to Sheldon Clark.

 

why did they move to Mercer in the first place? Not crying "foul" on anything , I simply do not remember the reason why he moved.

Faulkner completely took Darius Williams out of the game with his defensive effort, but Hollingsworth play was enough to carry Dunbar to the victory. He is a great player. Also Mercer had the ball down 1 with about 12 seconds left but they burned their final timeout. They got the ball to Hager in the corner, he drove, but Dunbar played great defensive and collapsed on him, forcing the turnover. Great game!
