The new school will be located on Man O' War blvd and it seems like a good tribute to name this school after the greatest race horse ever.

Fayette High - Cavaliers

 

Fayette High - Patriots

 

Probably don't want to use Fayette since there is already Lafayette.

 

 

Hunter Thompson High - Gonzos

 

Adolph Rupp High - Wildcats

 

Jesse Stuart High - ??

 

Duncan Hines High - Cake Eaters

 

A. B. Happy Chandler High - Governors

 

I would drop everything I'm doing, adopt as many kids as I could and move to Lexington, just so they could be HST Gonzo's!

The new school will be located on Man O' War blvd and it seems like a good tribute to name this school after the greatest race horse ever.

 

The new school will be at 1970 Winchester Road, which is the northern-most land of the Hamburg development.

 

It is less than a mile from the high school to I-75.

Man O' War just sounds like a better school name than I-75 Thoroughbreds.

Collins High missed the boat by not naming their mascot the Governors or Trailblazers (1st woman governor of KY)

I hope they get creative and give it a nickname that has some meaning. I hate generic ones "Tigers" "Lions" "Dragons".

 

Even McCracken and Muhlenberg Counties going with "Mustangs"...really? A lot of Mustangs native to those areas, eh? Muhlenberg County being in WKY coal country....Miners would have been great. McCracken? With the county sitting right on the Ohio, and just a few miles from where the Ohio/Mississippi meet..."Mudcats" would have been cool. It'd have been a steal off of the Minor League ballclub- Carolina Mudcats, but it would have been fitting.

 

I'd love to see a rural-county high school be tagged the "Aggies" if ever a new one was to pop up.

One of the greatest crimes in the history of society, was the fact that McCracken didn't opt to be the Krakens.

 

I really am not a fan of any of the generic nicknames, and I fully support any school changing their name from one. I've always been surprised and a little sad that no school in KY has the miners name. I mean, it's a pretty major part of a lot of communities, I think it should have happened by now.

Are they going to open the head coach position soon, or do they already have the person assigned??

They have not hired anyone for the new school, including the administrative team. They had someone within the district help with the 2017-2018 football schedule since the school will open fall of 2017 & scheduling was occurring currently for that two year rotation.
