Congrats to Trimble Co.....great to see another small school go to state. I was hoping my alma mater, Owen Co, would join them as a small school region winner on the boys side of the 8th, but the fairly tale ending doesn't always follow the script.

Best of luck Lady Raiders, beat Campbell Co!

Kudos to the Lady Raiders!!! Pegasus frequently sees Trimble during the season in the 29th, and I know what a great job Kerrie Stewart has been doing over the years....she's done a fantastic job building this team from their youth a few years ago, and one could see the development. They just missed the region two years ago, won the district last season and lost in region play, and just played lights out this year.

And the two top scorers are just juniors.

For those not old enough to remember, Trimble County was one of the first schools in the state to embrace the newly-sanctioned girls' basketball sport in the early 1970s. They were an immediate state powerhouse, and won two titles in 1976 and 1981. There were some tremendous athletes coming through Bedford then.

So you can imagine the well-deserved celebrations Bedford will enjoy this week!! Region titles are tough to come by - and 35 years is a long wait - so HATS OFF to the Lady Raiders!!

Based upon the number of TC fans in the stands in Shelbyville, as the saying goes, it certainly would have been a good time to rob a bank in Bedford....

Congrats to all the teams that competed in Shelbyville. The competition was intense and we were treated to some spectacular efforts by the ladies. We got to celebrate with some seniors and agonize career-enders with others. And we saw a lot of EXTREMELY talented youth.

And for the Lady Raiders - CONGRATS and GOOD LUCK! You bear the banner of the 8th. From today forward until this year's final dribble, all of us in the 8th will be LADY RAIDER FANS.

Most teams have kids from 3 or 4 counties??? If they do, I will delete my post.

I guess you should start deleting. I'm not aware of one kid living outside Kenton county. I could be wrong but please share.

It's not my intention to beat this story to death, but wanted to share with you a link to a story going around on Facebook in Trimble County. It shows how sure Coach Stewart was that this group of girls could get to where they are. Also, the first game of the season, she had shirts made that chronicled the past. The motto for the season is Honor the Legacy, Inspire the Dream. That opening night, the shirts had the timeline with 76 and 81 bolded and then the count from 81 on up to now. after 35, the 36 had the circle with a line through it for NO 36. Well. There was no 36. I'll see if I can find a pic of the shirt. Here's the article.

For The Small Schools - The KY Sports Guys

I think NB Eagles fan is referencing the 2 sophomores that came to Simon, Harmeyer and Neice. Both played at different high schools. I know that Ally was an 8th grader at Scott High, almost a 1000 points for them and then went to Simon. Scott High by the way with Ally would be loaded for sure. Grant on the other hand would of had a long year even with Harmeyer. Kenton County are 8th graders allowed to choose where they go to school? Now whether or not they were assembled who the heck knows, 9th region is a war for players

NBEagles statement reeks of nefarious actions taken by the Simon Kenton Coaches of recruiting by his /her use of "Assembled" Totally wrong and inappropriate and the statement not being removed yet indicates the intent of the statement "Assembled". Actually NBEagles really isn't worthy of my time or energy. Ignorance is obvious!!!!

No mention of recruiting----until you brought it up. When I say assembled, I am talking about kids from different counties ending up on the same previously successful team. Reminds me of Lebron, Bosh, Wade.....taking my talents to Highland Heights. I just choose to root for teams that do it a different way (and last time I checked, I have that right???). Sorry to strike a nerve!!!

Meanwhile, back to the thread discussing the game. Congrats to Trimble. What a tourney they had; they seriously came to play and showed why they tip it up. I lost a friendly wager with some friends with the Trimble win. I didn’t think they had a chance but Trimble outplayed, outcoached and maybe most importantly “out supported” Simon Kenton. There’s a reason they call it a home court advantage and Trimble took advantage of many things that go along with a homecourt advantage. With Simon pressing Owen on Friday, I think they were expecting the same on Saturday as that had been their Achilles at times during the season. Simon went to it and it worked but it was a little too late. Best of Luck Raiders; keep it up.

Trimble def showed up in force and their girls believed they were going to win. Great win for that team and community. They now need to refocus and go with the same mind set at the state tournament and represent the 8th region.

You have the right to root for whom ever you heart desires. I wont JUDGE you or express your reasons or how you came to support that choice. My issue is you failed to retract you comment even now. You chose the word assembled which by definition" put the pieces together" indicates someone in control or charge. The choice of words was poor at best and unless you can specifically state all the students from the school you support were all HOME GROWN and NONE of the student body moved into the district due to family job or any other reason just shows your ignorance of today's society that is very mobile.Much less any present or future students that would move into your school district and might happen to want to play sports for their new school? So you wouldn't continue to root for your team???? Again your statement "You choose to root for teams THAT DO IT A DIFFERENT WAY." Really ??!!! Again follow me you indicate those in control make the decision to do IT a Different Way. Simon plays with whomever comes to try outs and makes the team and is a registered student at Simon just like every other school in this state. They do NO RECRUITING what so ever and NEVER WILL! No matter what you or anyone else out there think ! Maybe you can have a better understanding of a MOBILE SOCIETY. Transplants are in every aspect of our lives from our work environments to your local grocery with a worker from three counties over because that is the closest job around. Guess you won't shop that store or support the local establishments in your town due to employees not residing in the county??? Now you might have an idea of the ridiculousness of your inflammatory statement.

Truly rooting for Trimble County to win STATE !!! Hope the whole town and student body show up in force at BB&T . I know Simon's fans and team members will be there to root for TC!!!!!! Represent the 8Th !!!!! Loud and Proud!!!!!

Trimble's allotment of tickets were gone in under two hours this morning. Looking to find more.

It really just depends on how you define this word. I would doubt Simon does anything illegal...but I do know that a few years ago when Stowers got up and spoke at the 8th region banquet he ruffled a few feathers when he talked about how he convinced one of his players to come to Simon for high school.

Open enrollment.

Open enrollment.

I get that...I am not passing judgement. I am simply pointing out that there are some people who feel that while those actions aren't illegal they do cross the line.
