How did Trimble County do in the 8th region All A this year?

They lost to Walton-Verona 60-48 in the championship.

They beat Walton-Verona 44-40 last night.

Still sitting here in awe of what Trimble County did the last two nights.

Tonight's game was fantastic. Coach Stewart and the Lady Raiders never got rattled and just took care of business. "She believed she could...so she did."

Fans of teams getting beat really should have a 24 hour rule before they post.

Congrats to Trimble County. They showed up at the 8th Region Final tonight to play their guts out. SK showed up to get their 1st place walnut trophy. Unfortunately for us SK fans, the deserving team left with the trophy.

The SK defense was porous (I can remember a couple of times where Trimble drove by a couple SK defenders) and on offense they looked lost against what looked to be a 3-2 zone packed very tight to stop Niece. With the outside shot not falling and Niece's drives not working, it was Trimble's game. It felt at times that the referees seemed to feed off the very, very partisan Trimble crowd but that certainly wasn't the difference in the game. Trimble created a home court advantage by getting out and supporting their team which is what Kentucky High School b-ball is all about. Nice job Raider Nation.

Congrats to SK kids on a fine season and get ready for next year. Best of luck to SK's lone senior, Abby Jones.

What a game. Very glad I went to see that one.

First of all congratulations to the Trimble County Lady Raiders! They played a dandy of a ball game back to back nights. They earned it. And wow, what a show of support from Trimble County. Bedford was a ghost town for sure.

Trimble's size and length is for real folks. Anyone that thinks that Simon just happened to have a bad night is naive. Trimble's length causes problems. It is tough to shoot over and you don't get many offensive rebounds when you miss. And Niece did not necessarily pick a time to have an off night either. I will defend her. It is not easy getting buckets in the paint with four 6' players crowding around you. It gets in your head. Niece is a very quality ball player, but there is a reason she struggled with what usually looks easy.

I guess I am saying that Trimble came to play, and they are a well coached, very good basketball team. They proved it and earned it. They did not just get lucky or happen to find SK on a bad night. I think it is wise to give credit where it is due.

Congrats to SK on a very good season.

Independence has about four times the population of Trimble County. If their fans didn't come to support their team, that is on them. Trimble County does what it always does come tournament time. They support their team. They'll bring a huge following to the state tourney.

Very classy and humble post. SK will be back, I am sure they will remember this one next year.

Here's a huge reason for Trimble's win. Fan and student support! Single A school showing how it is done.

The first picture is the team coming back from the locker room at half-time, down 4 no less! I was impressed.

This is how it is done.

Always great when students come out and support the girls sports.

Congrats Trimble County, continue to shock the state. Way to go!!!!

Shelby doesn't schedule games. It's a blind draw.

Not to mention playing late would actually help the traveling team.

How so? How late do you think they were getting home after playing the second game of the night that far from home.

If memory serves me right, missed FTs cut short SKs season last year.

Ok, here's my take...1st of all congrats to Trimble for winning the championship, and for defeating IMO the top 2 teams in the region on consecutive nights..a little Hoosiers like!! They played very hard and deserve credit. And the fan support was phenomenal! That's not to say SK did not. Anyone who has played or coached any sports at a competitive level knows that it takes skill, athleticism, and a little luck sometimes to be successful. For Example, would you bet the ranch that an 85%+ free throw shooter would miss 5 in a row and 8 out of 12? It just normally doesn't happen. I am in no way saying that's what lost the game for SK, but saying it was a very lucky break for TC. I could go on about the officiating ( which was very bad, even many TC fans said so also), but what's the difference? It's done and in the books. Many people on here know who I am and know where we came from. This was my daughter's first opportunity to experience playing in a regional tournament in 3 years of varsity play, and made the most of it. She was just greatful for the opportunity to be a part of it. And knowing that the entire team - 1 senior is back next year including the starting 5, I would expect nothing less than to be sitting here this time next year talking about this game again hopefully with a better outcome for our Lady Pioneers. Good luck to all that make the sweet 16!
