I so hate how these threads that start talking about a fantastic high school basketball game turn into personal agenda discussions about region wars and player evaluations. JUST STOP!! I know there many intelligent people on this, but it sounds like 2nd graders on the playground saying "my dad can beat up your dad" BS. I'd love to discuss the multiple defenses South used to confuse Owen county. Or that Owen missing free throws because they were tired,caused by South spreading the floor and having Carson chasing around #24 all over the floor to defend the 3. Great coaching on both sides and pure energy exerted by both teams to provide such an entertaining game.

 

I'm with you. It's just "POSTERS" like the guy above continues to want to spew against Carson Williams, and I really believe he is going to be a great college player. But you are correct. South Oldham's ability to play four guards and a small forward last night was great strategy. They fronted Carson at times, threw in some double teams, did a good job of making it a perimeter game which favored them greatly. I thought South Oldham attacked the basket effectively even though Owen County is much taller inside. Snook's three-pointers in the fourth quarter were as clutch of shots in a big game as you will see. Great win for South Oldham, sets up a very interesting semifinal for them against Collins.

I'm not fully convinced of that unless the official says he got him with his elbow. Still not sure even if that was claimed.

I really don't care where you've coached. Carson is not Charles Barkley. He's not Larry Bird. I don't hate Carson at all. The fact that you come on here daily and spout asinine remarks that the kid can't possibly live up to shows why you don't coach college right now. Heck, if you're from Oldham County, there's a great place to have your cataracts removed at Bluegrass Eye Center. No one was ever critical of the kid until your garbage showed up here. Carson has liabilties handling the basketball and shooting the basketball from the perimeter. This ain't the 70s. Kids that can play at that level get recruited at that level. But I know,,,you invented basketball and you saw everyone from the Big O to Earl the Pearl and no one else can have an opinion about a team or player. If Carson was at that level, he'd have been at that level. Or at least recruited at that level. And the bad part is that when you spew this junk it makes everything else harder on the kid. Why can't you just let his level be his level. And for the record, I know several coaches who have been on college benches who couldn't coach their way out of a sack, let alone recruit at that level.

 

Sadly, this type discussion, like I stated above, always seems to be a bang on the kid and it shouldn't. He's a terrific player. But he's a terrific player with a ceiling. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him. I think he's worthy of Mr. Basketball in our state frankly and hope he wins it. So, you can put the Carson hater garbage away. Let me know when the vision clears up, we can meet at Gustavo's and I'll buy you a burrito.

Must have missed Simon Kenton's failure when they were up 19 entering the 4th quarter against Gallatin County and got beat on a last second three.

South Oldham faces Collins in the semifinals next Monday. Collins pulled off one of the most remarkable comebacks I've seen in the first game. They were down 14 points, forced overtime and defeated Simon Kenton to advance. Great night of basketball at Henry County!

My thoughts on Owen County and South Oldham. Hailing from a small school I was pulling for Owen. It's been 44 years since a small school won the 8th Region and I did pick them to win.

That being said, after watching both games between the schools I believe South would win a 7 game series. I think they are the more complete team. Also, IMVHO, Owen would not killed by any team in the Commonwealth. Just the presence of Carson Williams gives the Rebels a chance to win any game they play.

Now I will cower at the prospect of being labeled ignorant and uninformed.

My thoughts on Owen County and South Oldham. Hailing from a small school I was pulling for Owen. It's been 44 years since a small school won the 8th Region and I did pick them to win.

That being said, after watching both games between the schools I believe South would win a 7 game series. I think they are the more complete team. Also, IMVHO, Owen would not killed by any team in the Commonwealth. Just the presence of Carson Williams gives the Rebels a chance to win any game they play.

Now I will cower at the prospect of being labeled ignorant and uninformed.

Like Carson Williams. But he is 6-6 and growing. Wait five years from now and lets see.
