Good to finally meet Clyde and Spindoc. And seeing True Blue & Gold and buttels.

I have enjoyed watching Carson. Truly have, but some of you so overrate him it's awful. He's got terrific athleticism and is strong around the basket. But to play at a "Notre Dame" type level he would have to improve his ball handling immensely, develop a perimeter game and improve his lateral quickness. Is he going to guard the 3 at the next level in the ACC? He's not tall enough to guard the 4 or 5. Come on folks, Carson is headed to a great fit for him at NKU. I hope he has a stellar career there. I'm sure he will continue to improve and develop into a solid contributor. I'm excited to follow his progress and see his game mature and develop there. Like everyone else, I love his demeanor. Just a great attitude. But wow, we need some reality checks on this board when it comes to player evaluation at the next level. Sheesh!

 

You have no idea what you are talking about, but you demonstrate that with each post you make. I've coached in college and can assure you Williams can play at any level of Division I. Your absurd notion about "not being tall enough to guard a 4 or 5" shows your ignorance since you probably are not aware Charles Barkley was 6-5 at Auburn and dominated the SEC and later became an NBA all-star. Carson Williams right now has better leaping ability than Barkley did as a senior in high school and is mud more polished offensively. But talking to a Carson hater, which there are many on this forum including you, is like trying to explain the quadratic equation to a group of kindergartners.

I was in Indy the night before and watched future Virginia Cavalier, Kyle Guy and future Florida State Seminole, CJ Walker, probably the top 2 seniors in Indiana go head to head and its my evaluation/ opinion in 2 years or less he would be capable of playing on that level with work on his jumper. Im no rookie. NKU got a steal.

 

You are correct. Pay no attention to some of these people, they never played nor coached in college. They just like to spout off like they know more than everyone else.

It's ok to admit when you're wrong about a team. As far as the 6th and 9th, you're being a little goofy!

 

The 6th Region is bad this year, see DeSales and their 20 losses as proof. DeSales might win the thing, two wins away. The 7th Region is great, not the 6th.

 

The 9th is always so-so when it comes to the state. Yes, Holmes and CovCath have carried their banner for two state titles. Simon Kenton won a state in 1981 but they're in the 8th now. But before 1981, the 9th NEVER won a state title. The it took them another 2o something years to do it again. Not a powerful region most years.

Since I recruited Barkley in Leeds, Ala., and you probably were not born, let me tell you Charles was in no way a better leaper than Williams is right now. Barkley was just 6-4 as a senior, lots of baby fat, and very aggressive. He was explosive, yes, but you have not watched Carson Williams enough to know how he jumps.

 

The 9th Region is basically CovCath and Holmes, nothing else. Any of the other schools might sneak into the state now and then, but that's all. From looking at threads elsewhere it appears the 9th has so many issues (schools calling out others for cheating, recruiting, etc.) we don't have to deal with down here, I'll settle for no state titles and peace. And, no, pre 1981 counts as part of the 9th Region history just like the rest of us. Now go back to class, study hard, and maybe you'll get to go to college one day.

I really don't care where you've coached. Carson is not Charles Barkley. He's not Larry Bird. I don't hate Carson at all. The fact that you come on here daily and spout asinine remarks that the kid can't possibly live up to shows why you don't coach college right now. Heck, if you're from Oldham County, there's a great place to have your cataracts removed at Bluegrass Eye Center. No one was ever critical of the kid until your garbage showed up here. Carson has liabilties handling the basketball and shooting the basketball from the perimeter. This ain't the 70s. Kids that can play at that level get recruited at that level. But I know,,,you invented basketball and you saw everyone from the Big O to Earl the Pearl and no one else can have an opinion about a team or player. If Carson was at that level, he'd have been at that level. Or at least recruited at that level. And the bad part is that when you spew this junk it makes everything else harder on the kid. Why can't you just let his level be his level. And for the record, I know several coaches who have been on college benches who couldn't coach their way out of a sack, let alone recruit at that level.

I so hate how these threads that start talking about a fantastic high school basketball game turn into personal agenda discussions about region wars and player evaluations. JUST STOP!! I know there many intelligent people on this, but it sounds like 2nd graders on the playground saying "my dad can beat up your dad" talk. I'd love to discuss the multiple defenses South used to confuse Owen county. Or that Owen missing free throws because they were tired,caused by South spreading the floor and having Carson chasing around #24 all over the floor to defend the 3. Great coaching on both sides and pure energy exerted by both teams to provide such an entertaining game.
