10th Region Bracket

Featured Replies

Great draw for MoCo. Not so great draw for Campbell.

Augusta/Scott will be a barn burner!

For what it's worth, Campbell Co beat Mason 81-65 at Mason this year.

What regions refs will be calling the 10th this year?

5th Region officials.

For what it's worth, Campbell Co beat Mason 81-65 at Mason this year.

But it did not come easy. I think it was tied at 65-65 then Camels scored last 16.

Field House?

Field House?

Montgomery County High School - Mount Sterling

Field House?

Nope. Going to smaller gym which is more geograhically inconvenient for more schools and basketball fans in general, to generate much smaller financial payouts to participating schools costing sports programs at schools critical financial resources. Legitimate question is why you say? The answer is pretty simple and has been well documented in previous threads. Simply Montgomery Co. has used their muscle and influence with other 40th District schools to cry unfair for it to be at the Fieldhouse every year and has leveraged that to get it this year when it was their Districts turn to decide. Even openly bragged they got it because they could and that's fair.

Seems selfish to purposely (because you can, and promised to do it again in 4 years), create a Regional tournament with so much baggage before the first tip? As for the tournament itself, MoCo staff has the chance to host one of the most competitive and potentially exciting tournaments in years. Had the potential to be $6,000 payouts for each team if it was at the Fieldhouse. Will be lucky to get $3,000 at Montgomery. Great first round matchups with unpredictable outcomes. Sure MoCo hosts will do a fine job and that is all they can control at this juncture. Just hope better decision is made for the whole of the 10th in the future, rather than the betterment of the few. Unfortunately, according to MoCo BGP posters on others threads, that will never happen!

Why would Bourbon and Paris agree to Montgomery? I am sure they could use the extra money especially Paris being a small school.

If you were to somehow seed the region, I think this is what it would look like.

March 2nd

Campbell Co. vs Mason Co. 6pm

Paris vs Harrison Co. 7:30pm

March 3rd

Pendleton Co. vs Montgomery Co. 6pm

Augusta vs Scott 7:30pm

SF March 7th 6/7:30pm

F March 8th 7pm

The top bracket is loaded. Wow.

Guarantee Brad Carr will have them ready.

I agree. I almost picked them in the contest to win the 10th. I should have. It will be hard for them to beat MoCo on their home court. The upper bracket will be a dog fight.

Really don't know in Paris's case, with their size I would think money would matter. Mt. Sterling is a much shorter drive, but awful road. Bourbon would have same travel decision, but as a larger school the $ differential may not be as important. Suspect the personalities of the school reps has a lot to do with it. Doubt that the conversations in that decision room will never be shared.

Campbell Co, Pendleton and Mason Co each got a poor draw.

Montgomery Co got a great draw.

I think Paris, Scott and Augusta should be reasonably pleased with their draws.

I believe the bottom is loaded because the 2 district runner ups in Scott and Montgomery are tougher than mason county and Harrison.

As with this entire season, there are no "locks" in this tournament. If you've watched how things progressed this year in the 10th you know what I know: anyone here could win it. I'd pick Augusta out of the bottom bracket (somewhat of a Homer pick) but they've been pretty consistent all year and Campbell out of the top for the final. Paris has the best team talent but it'll take 3 tough games of focused effort to pull it off. MoCo is tough when they shoot well but that's been sporadic and when the shoot poorly they're very beatable.

Most these schools don't pack big crowds and Mason Co is old and outdated..... True fans will travel regardless how far. No different than Montgomery or Paris going to Mason. Stop crying and enjoy some good ball or stay at home.
