Probably because there's more support and interest on the boys side

Or just the fan base......:walk:

Disagree. Been to every region tournament since 96, but 3. 2/3 were when it's been held at Montgomery Co, the other at NKU.

Hard to make a 6PM start game from almost two hours away.

No place in the region is anywhere close to 2 hours away from both Northern Ky and Montgomery Co. If you thought it was too far for you to go from Mason Co, or somewhere in that vicinity to both NKU and Montgonery Co then why would you expect people from Montgomery Co or Northern Ky to have to travel to Mason Co every year?

GRC girls will be doing this Monday when they travel to Campbell Co for the regional tourney. I don't hear any GRC or Bourbon Co fans complaining about having to travel 2 hours. Why is it just in the boys thread we hear all the complaining????:idunno:

My thoughts exactly. This argument is getting old real quick.

From Northern Kentucky its 1 hour and 42 minutes, 111 miles one way to Montgomery Co. So yeah, somewhere in the region is close to two hours away, especially if a team is traveling by bus.

When you don't get off work till 4:30/5 how can you make it there for both games? Especially on a weeknight?

The Fieldhouse is the most central location for all teams. Whether teams traveling, or fans it's less of a hassle and more convent.

A person loaned me some old basketball stuff that I am going as we speak. It has rosters, referees etc. the admission in the early 70's was $1.50. Good stuff.

Girls have the same problem...GRC plays at 6. It is what it is, this has been beaten to death. Good thing is it is once every 4 years correct? So suck it up for 1 year.

GRC and Bourbon fans and parents of the girls teams have this same problem and you don't see us complaining.

10th Region Tournament

Brossart v Montgomery

This was a first round match up.

Most these schools don't pack big crowds and Mason Co is old and outdated..... True fans will travel regardless how far. No different than Montgomery or Paris going to Mason. Stop crying and enjoy some good ball or stay at home.

The MoCo/GRC folks are certainly entitled to host the tournament every four years. However, there are some drawbacks that are understood.

True fans will travel, but the casual fans won't.

We in NoKy will make the trip down the AA to Maysville to watch the entire 10th Region tournament at the Fieldhouse.

The general population of Maysville will also turn out to support the tournament there.

We will not travel to Mount Sterling UNLESS our teams are involved, or whether we have other special interests in being there.

Paris and Bourbon vote with MoCo and GRC, simply as a sign of solidarity with their district brothers.

Will be interesting how the vote will go when/if GRC gets our new gym.

Well, I see a lot of orange in that picture because Augusta played Robertson County in the second game that night. With the host school playing the 6pm game on the 3rd followed by Augusta vs. Scott at 7:30 there might be a bigger crowd than you think...

The orange was due to brossarts "neon night" cheering section. Not saying there won't be a big crowd in Mt. Sterling this year, it's just the setting The Fieldhouse brings. That is a ton of people in the photo that wouldn't fit in MOCO. I do hope there is a big crowd for the games this year. It's really an impact on players. They love it.

I should have started my post mentioning that I wish the region was held at the Fieldhouse each year. I just love being there. I catch myself just looking around at the enormity of it all whenever I'm in there. It just has a feel to it that you don't get anywhere else. But seriously though, with Pendleton, Montgomery and Augusta all playing on the same night we might see a bigger crowd than we've ever seen there. And I did not forget Scott but I have yet to see them travel well. So we shall see.

Seems like Augusta always travels in a pack. The whole town might be there!
