Tell everyone more about the drop location. I just followed the rules best as I understood (which was easy) and listed my drop location. How does that work?

 

All you have to put in before they pick up is your location. Once you get in the car the driver will ask you to enter the address on your phone and you're off.

 

It really helps if you're going to the middle of nowhere or on a short ride.

First ride should have been free. Uber is great.

Yep, Lyft has a very similar business model. No cash exchanged, ever. Tip can be added on at the conclusion of the ride via their app. Very simple, never had a bad experience that I can recall while using Lyft.

In short, I felt like Uber was twice the service for half the price. No way Cabs can compete unless there is outsider interference.

Even with some surcharges it could be cheaper. That's why I load in the destination prior.

I tip occasionally on Uber but it is suppose to be cash and tip free. The driver gets 85% of the price of the ride so it's a good deal for both.

 

I've said it on here before but Uber is without a doubt to me the best use of technology for a new business in the last few years.

 

The entire experience is just better.

I was in Tampa Florida this weekend. Taxi ride from airport to my hotel was $32.00. Took uber from my hotel back to the airport for $17.00. Much nicer driver too.

 

We asked, so he did tell us that Uber sometimes cuts fares so low that they have trouble making money. Other times during "peak hours", they jack up the prices.

 

So, make sure you hit "estimate fare" when you Uber and tip well when fares are low!

I want to add a couple of things, my Uber driver warned me about surge pricing and my fare was 8.02 and at that price I felt obligated to tip and wanted to do so.

I use Uber a bit when I travel. Used them 4-5 times this week in LA. Only once was there a surcharge and it was 1.3X. Commented to the driver and he whined that he was only going to make a couple bucks on the fare. No tip from me. Never do.

As mentioned earlier, I have noticed the drivers are starting to become harder to understand. Several this week were former cab drivers.

I thought the tip was included in the fee?
