He was arrested and taken before a federal judge. I think there has to be more to the story than this. The good old USA may not be what it once was but I don't think we're at the point of using Gestapo tactics.

There are MILLIONS of incredibly smart individuals that can do ANY job you put them in, but without a degree it means nothing. It's really a shame. How many people are actually working in the field that their degree was in? My piece of paper does make me feel good. It was a personal accomplishment that I take a lot of pride in. I also work in the field that my degree is in. When I picked my major, I assessed the practical application of the degree along with my personal skill set. I graduated from Xavier with over $20k of student loans in 1999. I paid them back in full over 8 years. I would do it all over again. I am encouraging my kids to do the same.

Since at least 2007, the US Marshals’ service has been flying planes equipped with powerful cell phone surveillance tools, called dirtboxes, above US cities. The technology makes it possible for the Marshals to precisely locate someone using signals from the target’s cell phone. Now we know the Marshals have been enlisted to find and arrest about 1,500 people who allegedly owe student loan money. Are the Marshals going to use these cell site simulators to find them? February 17, 201610 yr You're certainly entitled to your opinion. The amount of money it costs to get a secondary education is disgusting at best. You can get a bachelor's degree in KY for a total cost of $35-40,000. Is that disgusting? Unaffordable?
February 17, 201610 yr While I don't agree that higher education should be free (someone has to pay for teachers, janitors, maintenance etc.), I believe it should be made much more affordable at public universities. I am a product of a local union apprenticeship program as a pipe fitter. My wife did four years then two more for her masters to be a catholic school teacher. I make more and have zero student loan debt. She makes less with significant student loan debt. Back when we were in high school all we heard was college, college, college. College is IMO not for the majority of people, and I very much disagree that having a degree should be one of the must haves to get a higher level job. February 17, 201610 yr This seems quite a bit ridiculous IMO. Are they arresting people with delinquent mortgages, car payments, or credit card debt? Those aren't through the government......another example of big brother over stepping it's power and why they shouldn't be in the student loan market.

February 17, 201610 yr Every complaint people have listed about the state of education in this country in both high school and college can be tied directly to the growing power of the department of education and the federal government. The federal government was never designed or given the power to have influence on education. It's an abuse of power and the exact reason we are in the state we are in currently. Education should be controlled at the state and local level and the department of education should go.
