That is the company's fault for paying him for that long. He shouldn't have to pay any fine, IMO.

I read a story once about a guy who set up a booth to collect parking fees near a zoo. Ran it for decades. Turned out had no connection to the zoo or the city, nobody realized this until he just quit after thirty years of collecting fees. That guy and the guy in this thread should open a business.

Two minutes maximum but probably only one minute where I used to work.

For the record I think this is fraud/theft and he should be prosecuted.

I just assumed this was a US government worker. Nice to know this kind of stuff goes on in other countries as well. Ugh!

 

His boss has to canned, right? His boss's boss as well? I mean this is so unbelievable that it is comical.

I've known a few people over the years who could have got away with it.

Based on conversations with my kids most college professors these days could get away with this anytime. I think many already are and nobody notices. Google or You Tube what you need to learn and do the assignments and tests online. No live body required.

Many years ago was working remotely when my boss left and the announcement listed me with a boss that was 'TBD'. That was an easy 9 months of BGP viewing.
