Wireman Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 One heck of a vacation: Man Skipped Work For 6 Years And No One Noticed Until He Won An Award
TheDeuce Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 That is the company's fault for paying him for that long. He shouldn't have to pay any fine, IMO.
Wireman Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 I agree that it's the company's fault. Where was his manager at? :lol2:
Bengal Maniac Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Not a private company, local government job.
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 The fact that he was about to be given an award is hysterical.
NKY Bandit Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 How many of you haven't wondered how long you could skip work before someone noticed you were gone?
Science Friction Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Didn't read the article. Was his last name Rubio?
MayfieldFan Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I read a story once about a guy who set up a booth to collect parking fees near a zoo. Ran it for decades. Turned out had no connection to the zoo or the city, nobody realized this until he just quit after thirty years of collecting fees. That guy and the guy in this thread should open a business.
theguru Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 How many of you haven't wondered how long you could skip work before someone noticed you were gone? Two minutes maximum but probably only one minute where I used to work.
theguru Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 For the record I think this is fraud/theft and he should be prosecuted.
ggclfan Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I just assumed this was a US government worker. Nice to know this kind of stuff goes on in other countries as well. Ugh! His boss has to canned, right? His boss's boss as well? I mean this is so unbelievable that it is comical.
75center Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I've known a few people over the years who could have got away with it.
75center Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Based on conversations with my kids most college professors these days could get away with this anytime. I think many already are and nobody notices. Google or You Tube what you need to learn and do the assignments and tests online. No live body required.
NKY Bandit Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Many years ago was working remotely when my boss left and the announcement listed me with a boss that was 'TBD'. That was an easy 9 months of BGP viewing.
