Iowa Thoughts/Predictions

The shocker of the night was Trump's concession speech.

No doubt. I stayed up to watch it and he was normal.

I am convinced he is trying to throw the election. If serious he doesn't skip the last debate.

I think I saw someone mention that Santorum won Iowa in 2012.

He did but not until weeks after the Caucus due to trouble with the ballots, so he never got the momentum boost heading to New Hampshire. I believe Huckabee is also a former Iowa winner.

Among Iowa Democrats who said "honest and trustworthy"was most important candidate quality, Sanders won 83% to Clinton's 10%.

I think it is a much smarter idea to target Ohio, especially because I think Rubio will win the nomination. You don't want to double down on Florida and leave a state like Ohio up for grabs. But to answer your question, I do think he would take the offer to be running mate. His dad started as VP, so I think he sees that and says in 8 years I'll have the upper hand of being named next president.

And I think this is the reason he will not be asked. With this in mind, he is a liability, not an asset.

The days of a JFK choosing a LBJ to "balance the ticket" are over. McCain didn't select Palin because he wanted to win Alaska. Geography still plays a role but has slipped down the scale of importance.

Your example proves my point.

Crazy to me that they'll decide a precinct with a coin flip. Hilary went 6/6 on them last night.

I am pretty sure there are State deadlines to be met if a candidate wants to be placed on the ballot. Biden is likely running out of time to meet some of those.

Did she supply the coins?

A lot can change in a week, but I wonder how much the narrative shifts if Trump wins New Hampshire?

Just my assessment of the media, but Rubio and Trump have been the biggest R stories out of Iowa even though Cruz won. If Trump wins in NH or SC the media is going to explode.

I think most people figured Cruz would win due to the demographics of IA, thus, the lack of discussion.

Trump did this to build his brand....he isn't going to win.

Trump isn't the type to taking losing very well.

As I understand it Cruz also had a huge presence in Iowa vs the others so was expected to do well.

He won't jump into the race...if he did that would open up his and the Presidents record for the past 7 years to get drug through the mud by other democrats. He's waiting for HRC's legal problems to come to a head then he'll swoop in on his white horse. If she never get's indicted then uncle Joe will stay on the sidelines. There is no way he'll enter the primaries.

Agreed. Only if something happens that is actually really damaging to Mrs. Clinton will he enter. He won't come in for the primaries, he'll try to win a brokered convention by getting the Clinton delegates released from their commitments, something no one's tried to do since Ted Kennedy tried to get President Carter's delegates released in 1980.
