Yes. But to clarify, Moore would be moving from 3A to 4A, South Warren would move from 4A to 5A. The districts they'll move into (if they do) look ready made, too. There is a 4A Louisville-area district for Moore (Breckinridge, John Hardin, Valley, Western) and a 5A Bowling Green-area district for South Warren (Barren, Bowling Green, Grayson, Greenwood).

Yeah, I don't think anyone is replaced. Moore is in a six team district right now (Central, Waggener, Henry, Bardstown, Thomas Nelson) so a move doesn't affect that district too much.

Get rid of Highlands and CovCath...then after reaching the Championship Game and being runner-up get rid of the dominant South Warren team that is rising rapidly.

It's painfully obvious that this is being done for 1 reason and that is to move SW. Fact is, if SW wasn't having the success they have had this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion and the khsaa wouldn't be looking to move a team mid stream. Guess all those complaining about SW will finally get their wish.

I don't think I've complained, but I fully understand where those people are coming from. When they were in 3A, they were huge compared to everybody else. Now that they're 4A, they're still bigger (and growing).

 

I agree that I don't think they would get this attention if they weren't having success, but that's how life goes in everything. Nobody focuses on the bottom tier of anything.

 

Although, I guess this is kind of anecdotal, a few years ago I attended a game when SW was still in 3A. They brought something like 4 buses to play a team that could fit the entire team and staff on 1. That's not an indicator of school size necessarily, but I just remember that it stuck out to me as one of those things where you realize the imbalance that was getting ready to happen.

I can't speak for others, but I made these remarks before they had even won a region title - but had just played for one:

 

Occasionally it does pop up the issue that South Warren is so much bigger than the schools. The furor is probably not as much compared to Mercer County because Mercer County was an established school that absorbed another school, enabling them to become a state power immediately. South Warren did not enjoy either of those advantages, being carved out of two other schools and not even having the luxury of building with seniors. But as they grow more successful, it is getting brought up more and more. If they make a significant impact this year, you can be almost certain you'll hear it a lot. I'm not entirely certain why they were allowed to stay in 3A. The terms for a school getting swapped mid-alignment was:

 

"There will be a review of alignments after the first two years with potential adjustments in class based on schools having a 12% or higher change (increase or decrease) in average boys enrollment, and such change placing a school below or above class bounds."

 

South Warren started with 413 boys in 2010, the figure used to place them. The next year, they had 488 (18% jump). The year after that, 525 (7.6% jump). In all, the average of the two years following their initial one jumped by nearly 23%. I'm not really upset about them still being in 3A because I want to see them do well, but I think it'll be a fair criticism by their opponents.

 

Now, if you're saying if they were 5-6 and out the first round of the playoffs, there you might have a point, people might not be upset. But even before they achieved success on a larger scale, it was a topic. And as I mentioned back then, they absolutely should have been moved up to 4A midstream. Why they didn't then, I do not know, but it was what it was and it is what it is now. South should not apologize for playing the hand they were dealt, but let's not act like the KHSAA is not without grounds to do this. It is a scheduled practice to review the alignment midstream, and after letting it go last time, the KHSAA elected not to do so again. I think it would have been the right choice before, and it's the right choice now.
