I agree but I think that is bad for football in KY. South Warren needs to have their run, establish the program a little longer, and then take on 5A Prime Time.

The Enrollment Order document shows the order of schools by 4 year enrollment size. If you count to 32 from the top, that is supposed to be 1A. If you count up 32 from the bottom, that is supposed to be 6A. 2A - 5A are the rest of the schools split up relatively evenly. The UP/DOWN in the right column simply designates the schools that are currently playing out of class per the newest enrollment numbers.

Interesting, Ashland would have to compete with Belfry in 3A instead of Johnson Central, which would move from 4A to 5A

From my sources, the new Fayette County school is being put into the same football district that is currently Scott Co., Dunbar, Henry Clay & Bryan Station. Kinda shocked that this school wont begin in 5A & swing up when they increase enrollment.

 

If i was a betting man, I would say they are going into the 42nd in everything else to make that a 5 team district(just an obvious observation), BUT then what do we do with the new Scott Co. high school when they begin fielding athletic teams?????......I could possibly see a restructuring of some surrounding regions to retrofit some of the 11th region teams into those surrounding regions, but I could be wrong.

Since Scott Co. wont start the new school until like 2025 (they dont have the funds to start the new school yet, they voted to build it then decided to crunch the numbers...genius!!) we won't have to worry about that one for a while. Lol.

I disagree. South Warren may not have asked for them, but they have had advantages over the other schools they've played with since Day 1. They don't need them any longer. They have the third highest percentage change on that list, jumping by 11.6%, trailing only Moore (12.66%) and Eminence (31.93% - which barely counts given it only jumped them from 220 to 212 rank, and that's with two less schools counted).

 

As with before, this provision is in the KHSAA rules regarding alignment:

 

"Mid-Alignment Adjustment: There will be a review of alignments after the first two years with potential adjustments in class based on schools having a significant change (increase or decrease) in average boys enrollment, and such change placing a school below or above class bounds."

 

For one, I believe this is probably that review. For two, I don't see any sense in them bothering if they do the same thing they did last time, which was ignore it and move no one.

Lowest 32 in 1A, Highest 32 in 6A. Then work out 2A-5A, I believe they are going to go away from the playing up or down and put everyone in the proper classifications. I expect there to be dramatic changes.

Is it fair to move South Warren, absolutely. Is it best for Football in KY, I don't believe so but either way no biggie.

If by best for football in Kentucky you mean the establishment of another flagship, then perhaps, I could see it being positive for them to continue to roll up. However, is it best for football in Kentucky for schools that would otherwise have a decent shot have their growth flattened by a school that does not belong where they are?

 

FWIW, I remain a proponent of the four class system, but one of the big selling points of the six class system that is often thrown out is the opportunity it provides to schools that otherwise would not have that. In 4A, South Warren's presence hinders that for many schools.

BTW, I sure don't like that one of those PDFs is a look at how intra-district playoff pairings would look as it pertains to travel. I don't think any of us have fond memories of that when they did it back in 06 & 07.

Not only another Flagship, but a Flagship from the home of the KY High School Football Championships.

 

I think it is good for KY football when you have teams from the Bowling Green area that are powers in their respective classes.
