I promise you that Paris had no problem driving the 52 miles last year to play in the Regional tourney at Mason. You are talking about schools they recently has not played in the tourney. the consideration should be with the NKY schools and not Paris and Bourbon. That is like saying it should be held at Mason because St. Patrick is only five miles away.

Considerations should be for the best tournament that can take place for all stakeholders....i.e. all 16 teams, their supporters, fans of basketball from both regional qualifiers and non-qualifiers, travel considerations of the preponderance of stakeholders, with a major driver being the financial impacts to all the schools. There is no reason to travel to Montgomery Co. for any of the stakeholder reasons, especially with the negative financial impacts. Suggest that the fear of Mason Co. having a competitive advantage is the real hidden driver by the 40th's power structure. That being the case, Bourbon Co. is a much better geographic option for the rest of the 10th Regions stakeholders and the gyms are comparable, with probable financials at least being comparable to Montgomery's history.

If Bourbon County wants part of the action, then they should be considered when it is the 40th District's turn to host the Regional. That would be in 2020, unless GRC has a newly constructed gym by then.

So I guess with your thinking Paris said Darn it, we won the region first time in years and we have to drive to Mason. What bad luck. If we could have only won when it was at Montgomery.

If I can rememember correctly I think I attended the 9th region championship at NKU as did a lot of other 10th region followers.

I will attend no matter where it is. If you call me selfish because it is at MoCo this year and it only takes me 20 minutes to get there, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. On another note that no one has mentioned is that the regional tourney is a big boost for merchants/restaurants in the town that is hosting it. I am sure that the MoCo area is welcoming the regional tourney this year, as the Mason Co ones like having it every year.

Common sense says the region should be held where it is beneficial ($$$) to everyone + centrally located as possible. Figures & geography show that isn't Montgomery County.

 

I'm up in the north end of the 10th & I don't think games should be played up here either.

 

I'll catch games at 3 different regions each year (8, 9 & 10).

 

Like tonight, Montgomery County is at Scott. Who scheduled that for a Tuesday night? Maybe that's what "fit" everyones schedule, but this game should be a Friday or Saturday night game. They are Student/Athletes right?

^ 106 miles per Mapquest. Probably can shave a few miles off by cutting over to Georgetown first, but little if any time.

 

Nice little hour and 45 minute drive on a school night. Should make it home before midnight.

I know I did....NKU is nice, but I felt like they overcharged for the tournament (based on prior records). I also felt like parking was at a premium.

Having it in a high school gym is great if you can accommodate everyone. The 9th just can't with Holmes and Conner.

 

Therefore BB&T is the best option. Everyone should have an opportunity to go and there is no way Holmes or Conner could handle the crowds they have had over the last 5 years.

 

Everyone likes a short drive which is not an issue in the 9th. However, if a team is in the regional, the fans will come. I went to the MoCo CCHS regional a couple of years ago. MoCo brought a huge following to the finals.

How many regions play at a neutral site? (College arena ect ect)
