"Searching to be offended." That's were everyone goes when they don't want to hear the truth.

Building a wall to stop 1000's of illegal's makes me a segregationist or better yet I'm a racist.

Trump is not like anyone we have had run for many many years. He's not taking big money from the big money groups. He's saying things that people are afraid to say. Right or wrong he's his own man. That's what resonates to so many people.

You could draw comparisons to any of our current GOP field, Trump would clearly be the hardest to compare to any of the presidential canidates from the past 75 years.

Trump's theme: "Make America Great Again!"

He speaks primarily of building a wall and refusing Muslims.

Your common American infers excluding Mexicans and Muslims is what will make America great.

Cruz shares similar beliefs, but he talks about more about other issues.

Sorta jumped the shark here.

Open, unvetted, porous borders are a problem to a society and a country.

It was tolerable when it was cheap labor and students over staying visas.

Seems its nice to ignore the number of terrorists who are naturalized or on visa here in the US - Boston, San Bernadino, Tennessee. Its nice to ignore what is happening in Europe, in Germany, in Norway. Its nice to ignore the behead United Kingdom soldier. Its nice to ignore Kathryn Stienie. It seems its better to ignore these and so many other incidents and be willfully niave than even risk the racist label support some common sense actions.

Calling for reasonably controled border; calling for reasonable and cautious immigration screening; calling for increased and expedite processing apprehended criminal illegal aliens is not racist.

The phrase "if it saves one life" is used a lot. It would seem many of the things people take issue with Trump would have saved many lives - not just one. Ask the families of the Chattanooga soldiers, or the families in San Bernidino, dozens or hundreds more. Save "one" life - try dozens, at least and so far.

I guess the dead American citizens who have been killed on American soil where we all expect to be safe are just collateral damage in the political game.

If we solve those two issues... Will America be great again?

If we solve those two issues... Will America be great again?

If it will save just one life.

If it will save just one life.

It is possible turning these folks away may kill them, which would mean no lives saved.

Still that's an argument for another thread.

What else has Trump said will make America great?

When was America last great? Under Bill Clinton?

Now the whale has been jumped . That is bad - even for a political shill.

As for Trump. Not sure why this is a question to me. I have never met him.

Channeling my inner right-winger.

I was hoping you had something because I'm thinking he's stuck on his same old stuff.

Too simple. I said in my OP that all politicians play on fears to some level.

Trump has taken it not only to a higher level it is 99% of his campaign. He's not talking about fear of no health insurance or fears of guns or fears of anything other than fears of certain types of PEOPLE. Like Wallace.

Trump is only saying what the people want to hear. Check the polls. Not fear mongering. Just saying what alot are thinking. I will remind everyone that the fringe on either side is just that, the outer fringe. Trump is talking the talk of middle America. Nothing more, nothing less.

That poll has been discredited. Recent story about Trump's standing with Dems and independents (according to Gallup) should concern Republicans should he actually win the GOP nomination:

********************

Donald Trump may be winning in most GOP polls, but according to a Gallup analysis, he also has the most negative image out of any Republican candidates in the eyes of Democrats and independents.

Trump’s net favorability is minus 70 points among Democrats and minus 27 among independents. That share among Democrats is basically double his nearest rival for worst net favorability, Ted Cruz. The Texas senator comes in at minus 37 points among Democrats and minus 3 points among independents. Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee comes in a close third for worst scores, at minus 34 points from Democrats and minus 6 points from independents.

But there’s better news for all three of those candidates in their own party: Cruz has the highest net favorability rating among Republicans, at plus 51 points; retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson comes in second at plus 47 points; and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is up plus 46. Huckabee, meanwhile, rates plus 40 points.

With Republicans, Trump finished sixth, at plus 27 net favorability.

The results are based on Gallup’s Daily tracking data from Dec. 1, 2015, to Jan. 11.

Gallup: Trump has worst image among Democrats, independents - POLITICO

Discredited? Lol.

We both cited recent polls from reliable sources (me - US News & World Report and you - Gallup).

The poll I cited was conducted by a Democratic Pollster...on likely voters asking their voting intent.

The poll you cited did not focus on likely voters and asked only favorability/unfavorability.

Does 'favorability' lead to votes? In the poll you cited Ben Carson's favorability is 58% among Republicans and Trump's is 30%. Yet if you look at RealClearPolitics most recent poll for Iowa Trump is at 27% and Carson 9%.

You should really read the stuff you post before just shotgunning it out there.

The poll you cited is not "scientific."

Before you swallow the bait, let google be your friend.

Two links below from the Washington Post. Read 'em and learn. The first deals with the accuracy of these online polls. The second deals specifically with how and why the poll you cited is flawed.

1. Already said fear is a common strategy. Not the debate.

2. IMO Trump does it on a MUCH LARGER scale than any others and it's his main strategy.

3. War on women is a strategy but it's not like #2 above.

I had to quote this because you must of missed most of the recent elections. The War on Women has been adopted by the entire Democrat party on a much large scale.

So again to prove my point . You said something to the affect of Trump striking fear by picking on certain groups. What would you say Obama was doing when he said conservatives cling to their bibles and guns. He wasn't isolating a certain group was he. Even better the governor of New York who said after the gay marriage ruling by the supreme court that conservatives weren't welcome in the state of New York.

Like I said my entire problem with your thread is it starts with a false premise that Trump uses fear on a much larger scale than any other recent politicians it's untrue. If you want to say Trump is more rude , less censored , and says dumb things at times I agree. But your premise is false.

Now I'm going to take a shower for defending Trump.
