You need to look up the word traitor in the dictionary then get back to us....

Looked up treason while I was at it. An ambitious prosecutor could make the charge and may get the conviction.

Apparently you do not understand the meaning of either. They did not try to overthrow the gov. They did not betray the people of this country. Did they go about this the wrong way? Did they make bad choices on how to make a stand? For sure.... Did they hurt anyone other than themselves? No. Criminals in the eyes of the law yes. Traitors that committed treason? Your out of your mind.

There is treason against the government and there is treason against the People's Constitution. The two are not synonymous. And from the People's view, one is far more serious than the other.

I got another one:

"The FBI defines domestic terrorism as activities that “involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law; appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.” --Time

And none of that applies to the situation.

Now, Mr. William Ayers situation....

First you say "you need to look up the definition of traitor and get back to us." So the definition is looked up. And posted.

Then you say they are not traitors, and in doing that, you ask the two questions above as the questions to be asked in determining if someone is a traitor or not. But your questions don't match the definition of a traitor. I am not saying you need to look up the definition of a traitor, since you are just gonna make up your own definition anyway. Finally, you answer the questions you posed, and the answers are incorrect too. These guys are just a bunch of traitors.

This description would make a lot of the protesters in Ferguson and Baltimore terrorists. I never thought of any of those people as terrorists.

Question - if a person fraudulently steals 100's of thousands of dollars from our government, are they a criminal or a traitor.

Im not making up the definition of traitor. I also looked it up to make sure I was correct in my thinking. And I am.

And I did not ask questions as to whether they were traitors. I made two statements that says they are not. The questions i asked pointed to what they did wrong. The only answer I gave to my own questions was" for sure" and "no".

Just so were all on the same page:

"Traitor: a person who is not loyal to his or her own country, friends, etc. : a person who betrays a country or group of people by helping or supporting an enemy"-Merriam Webster- Traitor | Definition of Traitor by Merriam-Webster

Now that we have ruled out the possibility of using a various definitions, we have to ask if the protesters in Oregon fit this definition. Were the protesters disloyal to his or her country, friends, etc. I think were going to have to define "loyalty to country" in order to be sure, but I would imagine that unless they and renounced their citizenship, payed taxes, vote other rights and responsibilities typical "loyal" citizen enjoys, then there is nothing, in my eyes, to prove they weren't loyal to their country. (Don't say breaking the law provides reason to believe they were not loyal to their country. Just Don't. if that were the case almost every US Citizen would be considered a traitor at some point in their life.)

Were these people betraying their friends, etc? Not clear but not really relevant to this discussion.

Were these people supporting an enemy? Again, as is the case with every issue, were going to need more clarity on what exactly an enemy is, and who gets to determine who our enemies our? For now, I am going to assume it means enemy of the state, and therefore is an enemy that is actively acknowledge by the Government of the United States. Were the protesters actively supporting a known enemy to the United States? To the best of my knowledge, I am unaware of any information out there that indicates these protesters were in supporting known enemies of the United States.

In my opinion, I think you have a hard case justifying the claim that these protesters were traitors.

That's what I was trying to say without using so many words... Thank you

They took over a federal building. And occupied it contrary to the law and the wishes and directives of federal officials. And I am not going to parse through all their statements, but they also communicated the idea that they would not leave the building and would use force to prevent being moved. They are traitors, armed gunman using the threat of violence to do unlawful acts directed against the government. Agree to disagree at this point.

Could we call them...REBELS?

Could we call them...REBELS?

I'm a Boyle County Grad and I don't like that idea. :taz:

Now, come on, there have definitely been some acts of 'domestic terrorism' against the visitor stands on the football field!
