A group of activists and militiamen protesting the federal prosecution of two ranchers occupied a remote federal building in the rural southeastern corner of Oregon, the authorities said.

 

Among the occupiers were Ammon and Ryan Bundy, two sons of Cliven Bundy, a Nevada rancher who became a symbol of anti-government sentiment in 2014, according to The Oregonian.

Eliminate the threat. They need to just go in there and kill them dudes. Eliminate the threat.

With them calling other militia's to join them, I say that the sooner they end this the better, donit before more show up.

After reading 2nd article I'm even more confused. This building is on land that has been federal property since 1908?

 

If they are disputing the fairness of the sentence of these ranchers wouldn't they camp out in front of the courthouse?

They are breaking the law and should be dealt with accordingly.

Not yet. While I know it is in mocking intent you're posting, I hope this gets resolved. Things like this have the potential to blow up Waco style. Much worse than "tear gas and swat teams."

So the issue seems to be that these two guys did some vegetation management on some federal land they farmed to control invasive plants. They did this by burning about 140 acres in 2001 and 2006 and each did time, about a year each. Then, after they were released, a Federal judge said they needed to do about 4 more years.

 

The occupation piece is being headed up by the Bundy clan, although local reports indicate that they are not interested in having the Bundy clan occupy the area. The local ranchers are not happy about the double jeopardy situation (seemingly), and a march occurred yesterday at the court house. The occupation of the Federal land is a symbolic occupation, much like the Wall Street gig a few years ago.

 

I find it interesting that the immediate response from many on the left is outrage and calling for violence against this group. They are currently peacefully occupying an area, yes, they have guns, but nobody is shooting, rioting, looting, burning down buildings, stopping commerce…none of that…..yet the call seems to be for violent takeover of what is currently a peaceful protest.

 

Is that what we are looking for as a resolution ? The more important piece of this is that the media is deciding if they will cover it and CNN this AM said exactly that. I find that interesting given that we sent Don Lemon to every corner of the world to cover all the other events in the cities….

 

This should make for an interesting story this week…..if it actually gets covered.

 

Let's not forget that Ruby Ridge was not far from this region….

Interesting that we view these rural outcries through the lens of Waco or Ruby Ridge…but all the other incidents of government "abuse of power" are viewed as righteous protests…..hmmm….
