January 5, 201610 yr These are adjustments to background checks many of you have supported in other threads. What's different now? Why are we jumping from closing loopholes to fearmongering of repealing the 2nd amendment when nothing this executive order will do is even close to that? What's the deal guys? Nobody's taking your guns unless you try to buy one and you are on the no-fly list or you are felon trying to illegally buy one. The blind haymakers being thrown is somewhat funny. I'm looking forward to seeing what is actually be proposed. There are some changes that think would make sense. I don't think they should be implemented by executive order however. They need to be enacted as laws if they are worth doing. However if the moves the President is wanting to make are stupid or not well thought out I'm glad that they are by executive order...that way in about 55 weeks they can be rescinded.

Something tells me that this proposal will include more than background checks. If that's the case this would not be anything but short term.
January 5, 201610 yr Something tells me that this proposal will include more than background checks. If that's the case this would not be anything but short term. I've got no problem expanding background checks...but to curb gun violence they need to focus more on Domestic Abuse and Mental illness than some random list that has from time to time included Senators including Ted Kennedy. Every firearms dealer already has to verify customers either through FBI NICS system, thier local state police or via valid permit. Gun show loophole is just a term thrown out to scare and confuse people.
January 5, 201610 yr Author What are the adjustments being made? I haven't seen the proposal, what exactly does it say? I haven't seen it either, but we will tomorrow, and let the #hyperbole commence.

Gun show loophole is just a term thrown out to scare and confuse people. Flawed system that needs some work if Ted or any other undeserving was on it, but every time something is brought about changes the pro gun gets its panties in a wad and stubs up. And most of that comes from that we pay to work on this stuff: Congress.
January 5, 201610 yr Probably because we don't trust the anti gun crowd to stop with one wave of changes. The most Radical of which have stated over and over if they had their way all guns would be confiscated. My fear is one gun banned today leads to another tomorrow and then another the next day.
January 5, 201610 yr I haven't seen it either, but we will tomorrow, and let the #hyperbole commence. Oh I understand now. I misunderstood since you were saying "these are just adjustments to background checks." Then you were calling out the gun pro people that were OK with such background checks are not now bowing down to the king. So basically what you are saying is you no nothing more than myself or anyone else? Yet you are provoking people for a response, even though none of us, yourself included, has a clue what Obama is about to introduce tomorrow. Gotcha, now I understand. The main question I have is why not just let it go to vote, if its such a simple proposal that most gun owners would agree with?
January 5, 201610 yr How about an executive order to increase welfare fraud investigations. Lets start controling the freeloaders that I work 2 jobs to pay for. Can't offend their main support group?
January 5, 201610 yr Does anyone seriously think any of these proposed laws, or executive orders will do anything to circumvent the transmittal of weapons among criminals and other never-do wells?? How truly naive??

The blind haymakers being thrown is somewhat funny. For me, it's the way Obama goes about it. He's like a spoiled child, bound and determined to have his way. We have Congress for a reason. If anyone doesn't like the way they are doing the job, replace them next election.
January 5, 201610 yr There were around 450 shooting deaths in Chicago last year. Over 95% of the victims were minority and living in the poorest neighborhoods in the 2nd city. Of the assailants arrested its is about the same percentage. So are all these poor minority people in Chicago going to gun shows to get unregistered guns? What is the real agenda?
January 5, 201610 yr Found this....3 things the President's action do and 3 things they don't do • Hiring more people to run the FBI background check system, so the government can be "processing background checks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." • Requesting from Congress an additional $500 million to increase access to mental health care. • Clarifying that people selling guns over the Internet can still be required to conduct background checks on buyers if they are "engaged in the business" of selling guns, not just a hobbyist. And here's the stuff discussed in the days before the announcement that is NOT in the package: • A requirement that every gun sale in the country is proceeded by a criminal background check. • A ban on gun sales to people on terrorist "no-fly" lists. • A ban on large capacity magazines that hold a lot of bullets.

Is this the supposed new proposal? I dont get it. I am missing something.
