Highlands in 3A in 2007???

Featured Replies

It certainly qualifies as something ... that would be like Highlands winning 16 titles in A and 2A. ;)

Now, there is something that we can agree on.;)

word around the campfire is that Highlands is going to move up one class to 4A.

Wouldn't surprise me, the Birds always want the toughest competition. That's why they're, well, Highlands. :thumb:

I expect HHS to petition to play up. No guarantee if the KHSAA gives the :thumb:...

I'm still hoping for a two class jump.

I'd like to take a look at the percentages...then I would like to add free enrollment. Then I'd be happy to take a look.

5. If and where possible, ensure that there are a minimum of four and a maximum of five teams in a district. In order to put each school in approximately the same scheduling situation, a balance of districts is desired, and is to be waved ONLY when it is in the best interest of ALL teams involved due to an EXTREME scheduling situation or due to impending consolidation or closing of schools.

It doesn't sound to me like it will be EASY to move up. I don't see where Highlands qualifies for any of these exceptions.

For arguments sake, maybe keeping Highlands in 3A for four years could be a good way to show what a lousy idea 6 classes is, IF the Birds can blow away all competition in 3A, winning 4 straight titles, with 4 or five other schools doing the same thing in their respective classes.

As it stands now, 7 or 8 teams have won over 50% (probably closer to 60%) of the championships since 1975...IMVHO, I think it may be even worse with 6 classes.

You have a point.
