December 28, 201510 yr What level did these guys play last year? Grant Freking @GrantFreking Jagielo info... Age 23, 3B. Reached AA last year. .266/.356/.469 slash with .825 OPS in 862 minor league PAs
December 28, 201510 yr Some say Cotham will compete for spot in the bullpen. Believe he pitched in the Majors last year.
December 28, 201510 yr JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 Best guy the Reds got back is Rookie Davis. Jagielo decent 2nd piece. Other two are org guys. Cotham could be fringe MLB rp.
December 28, 201510 yr Chapman, 27, has spent the first six seasons of his major-league career with the Reds, posting a 2.17 ERA while saving 146 games in 324 appearances. He is slated to become a free agent at the end of the season. Cincinnati receives a package of four minor-leaguers from the Yankees, with Jagielo serving as the headliner. It is unclear what the Reds would have received from the Dodgers in the previously agreed-upon trade, though Jose Peraza (who was sent to Cincinnati in the Todd Frazier deal) was thought to be part of the package. Jagielo, a 23-year old third baseman, was New York's 1st-rounder in the 2013 draft and could be the long-term replacement for Frazier in Cincinnati. He was ranked by MLB.com as the 6th-best prospect in the Yankees' system at the time of the deal and is regarded as an offense-first player who has strong power. Jagielo spent last season at Double-A Trenton, but could help the Reds in the majors at some point in 2016. Davis, 22, is a 6-foot-5 right-hander who was originally selected in the 14th round of the 2011 draft. He was ranked as the 10th-best prospect in New York's system by MLB.com after posting a 3.86 ERA in 25 appearances (24 starts) with High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton last season. Cotham, 28, made his major-league debut last season for the Yankees and is not among the club's top 30 prospects. The reliever spent the bulk of last season split between Double-A and Triple-A, posting a solid 2.21 ERA in 35 minor-league appearances. Renda, a 24-year old second baseman, was the Nationals' 2nd-round pick in 2012 before being traded to New York in exchange for David Carpenter last summer. He hit .269/.330/.358 with three homers in 127 games last season at Double-A.
December 28, 201510 yr What level did these guys play last year? I higher one than was played in GASP all last year.:bunny:
December 28, 201510 yr Not an exciting deal, but at this point, what other options are there? Reds simply waited too long to trade Chapman & didn't have much leverage in negotiations. It sounds like most of the prospects were high draft picks and have been decent thus far. It's better than having Chapman on the roster for 2016, so I'll take it.
December 28, 201510 yr I hate to see him go, but I knew it was inevitable. Wish Chapman well in NYC and hope these guys work out for the Reds.
December 28, 201510 yr Under the circumstances, I don't think the deal is all that bad. But what blows me away is Jockety's inability to make trades near the deadline. Maybe he tried, I don't know. But IMO we could have shopped Chapman, Phillips, and Bruce on top of Cueto at the deadline and gotten twice as much for Chapman and BP as we wound up getting. Going to be a long couple of summers for Cincinnati. I know a lot of season-ticket holders who didn't renew because they are so frustrated with the direction of the organization.
December 28, 201510 yr Bruce will be gone next, they could actually get an elite prospect for him IMO
December 28, 201510 yr Can you drive 105 mph thru the Bronx? Chapman was of no help to the Reds organization as a Closer. All he would be doing is keeping someone else from gaining experience.

December 29, 201510 yr Bruce will be gone next, they could actually get an elite prospect for him IMO You mean at the trading deadline if he produced like Jay Bruce from 4 years ago, right?
