I have had very few craft beers that I like better than Yuengling. I don't like IPAs, too hoppy, and they're putting fruit in everything, now. If you have to put fruit in a beer to make it taste good, it's not good beer.

 

You all can leave the Yuenling alone. Hate away. More for me. I'm good with that.

I've always been a big Yuengling fan. It is my favorite beer to drink when I'm going to spend a day drinking beer. If I'm have one or two there are a lot of craft beers that I like but for an every day/house beer I really like Yuengling.

What do you guys think of Kentucky Ale's offerings? I saw they have one called Bourbon Barrel Ale, which is brewed normally and then soaked in a bourbon barrel for some time to give it that flavor. Is that considered a craft beer?

 

And what is an IPA?

Lexington Brewing and Distilling owns Kentucky Ale and other similarly-styled beers. That company is in turn a division of Lexington's Alltech, which of course made its name in the animal nutrition business.

 

They also make a few whiskey products, most notably Town Branch Bourbon.

 

As for "craft beer", no one has a really good definition but it tends to refer to small (maybe 5 million barrels produced per year or less), independently-owned breweries.

 

To put that number in context, Anheuser Busch produces over 40 million barrels every year of just Budweiser alone.

I'm with this sentiment — love the stuff and was thrilled when it finally came to Ky. But it's decidedly better on draft than out of the bottle, in my opinion. Like others, I pretty much forgot about Yeungling after Fat Tire came to Ky. Lots of other new stuff has been finding its way to Bardstown recently and I've been loving it.

I don't much care for the Ky Ale line.

 

IPA means India Pale Ale — the Brits used to take their beer with them around the Horn of Africa by ship to India, and would put hops in the barrels to keep the beer from spoiling.

Is Yeungling in Indiana?

 

No.

My level of "Beer Snob" isn't at the highest of levels; I'd consider it to be low-mid range, but I love Yuengling. Always have.

 

...just a really solid, good tasting, affordable beer that doesn't leave the feeling like you've just eaten Thanksgiving dinner after a couple.

....Old Forrester's Backwoods Bastard Bourbon Barrel might be the next best thing to sliced bread.
