July 22, 200620 yr It showed downtown as the northern most tip of a south moving storm... Your right it looked bad before though. Im just mad my softball game got canceled the past 2 fridays.:madman:
July 22, 200620 yr This was in Marc Lancaster's blog. Thought it would be too funny not to share... Mr. Redlegs While we're all snoozing through the Reds delay. . . . So I'm at the Cubs-Nationals game tonight as they do a grand "re-opening" of RFK Stadium--which is the equivalent of giving Phyllis Diller a gift certificate to Elizabeth Arden--and they've got all this new-food and fan-friendly stuff to pretty up the place. But the one thing that has people talking and laughing about are the four new mascots--the Presidents of Mount Rushmore. This is awesome. Looking similar to the sausages in Milwaukee except they are cartoon caricatures of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Teddy R., these things are outloud funny and they will be racing the bases each game. This got the press box asking: Why just four presidents? Imagine the Nixon mascot giving the victory signs. Or William Howard Taft, fat and cumbersome. Or what about FDR--in his wheelchair? Or the dweeby little Truman, like that brainiac kid in the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons. New Nats President Stan Kasten strolled by and the idea was brought up to him: Add more presidents. That way, the fans would be guessing and anticipating which four presidents would be running the bases. It's Washington. It's a tourist haven. Washington baseball needs more presidents. Silly, I know, but it is fun to ponder. If you can see any photos of these presidents mascots take a gander (some were on washingtonpost.com earlier today). The Lincoln even has a wart. The mascots sure beat watching Pedro Astacio and a big to-do about having a red carpet outfront of a complete turdhole of a stadium. PS--It's a real toss-up on who's more miserable, Kearns or Lopez. They act like their dog was shot.
July 22, 200620 yr The game is starting at 10:05 Pacific, I mean Eastern Standard Time. Should be a large crowd on hand, I would imagine.
July 22, 200620 yr Tracy JOnes on WLW is debating greatest hitter of all time. Didn't get who he said the Bad Boy chose. But Marty and Joe said Ted Williams. Tracy, and of course he played the game so he knows, says Barry Bonds. The power, the average even before the steriods issue. Which got me to thinking that one of the saddest things is that Bonds would have gone down as one of the greatest players of all time even if he didn't take the steriods.
July 22, 200620 yr Somewhat surprised to see Griffey still in the lineup with the wet outfield and all..
July 22, 200620 yr Looking like a 5-inning game is the best hope. Marty is saying more rain in Indy and moving this way. First two reach but pitcher's best friend leaves two out and runner on third. E5 comes through to get the third out.
July 22, 200620 yr I swear, it seems like in some games they don't even start trying (at the dish) until the 7th.
July 22, 200620 yr Cowboy hits his 5th of the year (.204) to pull the Redlegs to within 5-1. EZ Ramirez' night is over.
July 22, 200620 yr The Reds should still give the people in attendance rain checks. If you took a child to the game there would be no way to keep them there for 3 hours of rain...and then expect to stay for the game.
July 22, 200620 yr The Reds should still give the people in attendance rain checks. :thumb: I'm sure they won't, but that would be a nice gesture.
