July 20, 200620 yr He's above .270 over his last 1200+ AB's since the start of 2004... 1200 at bats? You can't base anything on that. He is hitting .000 in his last at bat.
July 20, 200620 yr Last year he had a 2.93 ERA and gave up 80 hits in 86 innings. This year with the Nats he was 3.58 and 49 hits in 55.1 innings. Both better than our existing bullpen and on par with Bob "heads up in the bleachers" Wickman. So you're saying Majewski is on par with Wickman correct? Would you have traded Kearns/Lopez for him?
July 20, 200620 yr So you're saying Majewski is on par with Wickman correct? Would you have traded Kearns/Lopez for him? Not unless you would have included Bray, et al.
July 20, 200620 yr Not unless you would have included Bray, et al. So you would've traded Kearns/Lopez for Bray & Wickman (if Wickman was a part of the deal in some way)? If Wickman is "on par" with Majewski, then why did we have to give so much to get Majewski and Braves take Wickman from the Indians for nothing, seeing as they were about to put him on ebay because they were desperate.
July 20, 200620 yr Not unless you would have included Bray, et al. Exactly. No I wouldn't trade them straight up. In my opinion Majewski wasn't the jewel of the trade it was Bray and Clayton certainly is better defensively that Lopez as is Castro. Pitching and defense with get you to the playoffs not and over abundance of offense.

Once again you have left out Clayton and the other two players. The Wickman deal is very similar to the deal the Reds made with the Mariners.

July 20, 200620 yr C'mon Stark, give the guys a chance. The Tigers had some young starters who for the past few years took a serious amount of lumps, one who set the record for most losses in a season if I recall, and the Tigers are where now?
July 20, 200620 yr C'mon Stark, give the guys a chance. I wish we would have given them the chance in the 7th... :irked:

Apples and oranges. This trade was done for THIS season to get them to the playoffs. When Bonderman was losing so many games, the Tigers were out of it in April. They could afford to let him get rocked. Where exactly were they going?

Kearns and Lopez are getting big time raises at the end of the year. We didn't want to pay them and we needed bullpen help. We got pen help, we don't have to pay them, and we have adequate players to fill the roles Kearns and Lopez left behind. When you factor in that this trade was about money the Reds came out pretty good.
