Rockcastle County vs. Corbin....Week 1

Featured Replies

I see the Rockets by a score of 37-14. Rockcastle has been in the hunt for the last 5 years at least. They get over hump and this game is the first in a vert successful season.

Rock 28-14.

Should have went to our combine this year and last year, if you don't think the boys from Rock are strong, and Corbin had kids their too, and the Rock kids stood out imo. Speaking negative about Rock's kids and coaches should give them something to play off of, and people to prove wrong, I guess it works both ways.

Never said Rock's kids weren't strong nothing negative, i am saying that Corbins are strong and it should be even in that category. That will be ahead in size by about 20 lbs.

So is the T.R Christopher kid really gonna suit up for the Redhounds cause I have heard that he was ruled ineligable cause you can't transfer schools and live with a relative, it has to be your imediate family (Mother/Father)....So I heard he is staying in a Bobcat uniform this year???

The KHSAA was going to make him sit out a year if he stayed at Corbin, so my understanding is he decided to move back to Bell so that he would not miss an entire season. Hopefully things work out for him there.

Rock should take this one easy. I wouldn't be surprised if it is over by Halftime. Rock 49 Hounds 14

Corbin isn't Danville, either.

And ... Rockcastle eventually got bombed in the semifinals, a week after LexCath finally got over the Highlands hump. It's not that hard to believe that the Knights may have had a bit of a letdown.

First of all, I was just using Danville as an example as this happens EVERY YEAR, I MENTIONED. NOT JUST THIS YEAR. When Corbin beat ROck 2 years ago in the opening game it was said and Rock was 2OT's and 1 point away from another regional championship appearence. I also wouldn't slight Corbin either as being no Danville, sure they don't have 10 STATE TITLES, but not many teams do.

Im sure if you were to ask the players, coaches and the crowd in attendance at the Lexngton Catholic game, they wouldn't say that Rock got bombed. They drove the ball 96 yards on their opening drive to take the lead in the 3rd quarter and was intercepted where the Knights took the ball for a reverse score changing the tide of the game. Also Rock had over 500 yards of offense in that game and wore the Knight defense down with the power game until speed and numbers took over at the end of the 3rd quarter. Rock had 13 players playing everything (special teams, offense, defense, etc) Having the term BOMBED thrown at your face after the season Rock had is a slap in the face. Catholic scored 2 TD's in the last 3 minutes of the game putting it out of reac. Sometimes people are too quick to speak before they know the whole truth espcially if you are in WKY where teams of Rock's calibur are a dime a dozen and seldom ever earn a win against a quality opponent. Being at the game would cause your outlook to be different. A team tha twas BOMBED would have been Bowling Green in the STATE by Catholic. The score was the same in point differential, however, the game was over with about 2 minutes elasped in the game with BG. That game was never in doubt.

Danville was a quality team last year, better than Corbin is projected to be. If Rockcastle doesn't handily beat a team that might not be a top-10 club in 2A, they will clearly have a long way to go to make a run at a state title.

Maybe I overstated the the case. If so, I apologize. Still, I suspect LexCath came in on a bit of a letdown after getting over the Highlands hump.

By saying they're a "dime a dozen," you're saying they are commonplace. If that is the case, I would agree to a certain extent. Programs like Bowling Gren and Hopkinsville don't have to take a backseat to anyone.
Corbin should be at the same level as Danville before this year is over.
When you speak of Danville you think of one of the best teams in the state every year in any Class.

I was in attendance at that game. The Rockcastle team was in no way bombed. They went toe to toe for 2.5 quarters with the state champs. The numbers and speed got them in the end. From the looks of there roster last year, they have alot of players comming back.

Rock's O-line is the difference, Rockets 27-14.

Rock's line will outstrength and outsize the Hounds in this one. And if you think Larkey isn't on the same level as a coach as Jewell, you haven't been paying attention to what he has done at Rock since he took over that once pitiful program in the mid 1980's.

Rock is missing some of the skill positions. If they had Regan and Anderkin with this line, I would lay money on them playing in the Pizza Box. But Cashen had better get rid of the ball quick as Rock will dare him to throw deep and have pressure on him all night long.

I think both teams will be fine regardless of the outcome of this game, but what a way to start the season.

Rock will wear the Hounds down in the 4th and pull away with long sustained drives. The game will be closer than the final score indicates.

Rock 34

Corbin 14

Rock is good big and strong. Corbin is lot better than last year. Rock was picked to beat the Hounds two years ago did't happen every body picking rock won't happen. Hounds24 Rock20. Should be a great game to watch.

As it gets closer and now that TR is out of the picture for Corbin, I can feel a little better about making a prediction. Like I said earlier in the thread, when Corbin and Rock play, you can toss everything out the window because it's going to be two of the best mountain programs..check that overall programs in the state locking up.

Having not seen either play this year, you can only predict by who returns and what you see on paper. Right now without any bias, if I was held at gun point, i'd say Rock should probably will something like 34-21. It wouldn't surprise me a bit though to be wrong. Corbin is going to be tough as nails this year and right there in the title hunt come late November. Rock will be too. I just think that Rock has more experience and strength in the trenches right now and that will be the deciding factor. Corbin has good strength and skill on the line as well though. I just think the experience for Rock will pay off. If it were played later in the season, I would say this will be a push to call.
