Again I quoted big wins. He got handed to him finals by a better team but he did coach his team to an undefeated season that saw him win at Oklahoma , give Mich st only loss and beat USC all in the same season.

 

This is was probably going to be his best team but they've lost somewhere around 8 starters for the year. He still managed a double digit win season with only losses being at Clemson the #1 team and at Stanford the Pac 10 champ by a combined 4 points. Missing his starting QB ,star DL and using his 3rd or 4th string RB most the season.

The point I was eventually going to make with this is what is the difference between Chip Kelly and Mark Richt. I know Richt was there a lot longer than Kelly has been at ND. But the narratives seem similar to me so far. Probably a loose analogy, but just a thought crossing my head.

Yeah but he got absolutely demolished and Richt played Bama the game before and it was a much better game. It's fair to say that Georgia was the second best team in the country that year not ND. Doesn't appear to be that much difference between the two to me.

Thats actually a pretty big line for 2 teams seemingly so similar. The line is close becuase its a bowl game and they know people are wondering if Ohio State will be motivated to play. If Ohio State shows up, they will win convincingly. If they don't, and as an Ohio state fan myself that is a pretty big "if", it will be close.

 

I love this narrative. Everyone will say "OSU by as much as they want.. Blah blah blah" then IF ND wins.. "Well OSU wasn't motivated"... It's so weak. You can't have it both ways. If you don't think OSU will show up, then don't predict them to blow out. Also - want if ND doesn't show up? Maybe their guys check out.

 

I think both teams will show up and I think OSU will win by a TD. Good test for ND even with the injuries. OSU is defending champ with basically the same roster and loaded with NFL talent. They won't get a better measuring stick unless they played Bama and even then I would rather play OSU because of the talent.

Nd getting some good news on injury front. 1st string TE Durham Symthe who's been out since week 2 and Jaron Jones who was suppose to be the anchor on DL and hasn't played a snap, both are playing in bowl game.

I don't buy the whole OSU may not be motivated to play crap. At the end of the day they are football players, and some of the top athletes in the country. The drive to win for any player is very high. If anything OSU probably will be even more motivated. I see them being motivated and wanting to come out and play great to try to show people that they are truly the best team in the country, even though they are not in the playoffs. I see them wanting to try to make a statement this game. I don't think motivation will be a problem at all. However I am sure that is what OSU fans will say if for some reason Notre Dame wins or the game is closer than people think. The motivation thing is crap, and just a built in excuse OSU fans want to have in case OSU doesn't play well like they haven't all year besides for one game.

OSU 1 loss and NDs 2 losses were by a combined 7 points. To put that into perspective. The MSU/ Bama losses combined were also 7 points. That just shows how close together the top 8 or 9 teams are in college football.

Who knows? It was an off week for the playoff teams too. History tell us that this week is when a lot of players do stupid things.

Ohio State, possbly by 2 TD's. Why ... bc if they come to play then they are that much or more better than ND. Question is as all season, will the Bucks come to play ?
