We'll agree to disagree on that. Last year, the two semifinals had nearly 10 points on the next closest bowl game. FSU-Oregon wasn't even all that good and it still pulled a 14.8, which is just ludicrous.

 

The playoff has been a ratings bonanza and nothing will come close.

The playoffs are on NYE this year. This takes away a good percentage of the casual fan this year IMO. It won't get a higher rating still since it's a 1. But it will get a great rating simply because it's Ohio State and ND. The 3 most watched games all year were Ohio State/ Mich St, Ohio State/ Mich, and Ohio State/ VT. Ohio State brings people to their TVs.

Go Buckeyes! I take them by 21, would love for them to play to their potential and blow them out like they did in the Big Ten title game last year.

Absolutely. Also its at 1 in the afternoon on New Years Day when every one is at home.

Thats actually a pretty big line for 2 teams seemingly so similar. The line is close becuase its a bowl game and they know people are wondering if Ohio State will be motivated to play. If Ohio State shows up, they will win convincingly. If they don't, and as an Ohio state fan myself that is a pretty big "if", it will be close.

Like someone said earlier if ND were healthy I'd like their chances against anyone. The only two losses at Stanford and at Clemson both in the closing seconds.

 

Ohio State could blow them out I guess but I would be shocked. But Notre Dame is much better than that overrated Michigan team they just played.

I guess it depends on what you define as big. Beating LSU in the bowl game was big. Beating Mich st and winning @ Oklahoma were big wins the title game year. He also has a few wins over USC.

I mean games where if they win they either win championship or they get to the playoff. Clemson and Stanford were big games this year and obviously Bama was a few years ago. I'm not hating on Brian Kelly I was just curious about what he has done since being at ND.

Again I quoted big wins. He got handed to him finals by a better team but he did coach his team to an undefeated season that saw him win at Oklahoma , give Mich st only loss and beat USC all in the same season.

 

This is was probably going to be his best team but they've lost somewhere around 8 starters for the year. He still managed a double digit win season with only losses being at Clemson the #1 team and at Stanford the Pac 10 champ by a combined 4 points. Missing his starting QB ,star DL and using his 3rd or 4th string RB most the season.
