Johnson Central - "don't get no respect."

I wish JC all the luck in the world. They do have a tough road ahead of them but I favor them as we were treated well when we played there, other than the games being way too close for comfort.

Here is a thought go to Ashlands and Belfry tape and see what they played both 7 in the box Ashland did it with 4-3 belfry 5-2 .I believe both defense done well .as far as respect I promise SW respects JC .SW fans may be a little over zealous but team and coaches take this team very very serious and that's what counts this team got a little unfocused against Central last year when they got lead .19 seniors will not let it happen again good luck JC

I can't speak for JC..but over the years as a Belfry fan teams who put 9 in the box do not concern me nearly as much as teams who play the Pirates straight up.

Teams who commit an extra LB or Safety into the box typically has an extra LB or FS who misses a read or gets caught up in the wash of the play. The teams who traditionally defended Belfry the best will move their safeties closer to the play but keep them out of the box and play their LB's at a traditional depth so they can read plays and move sideline to sideline without casualties at the LOS slowing them down.

You are correct sometimes extra people in box keeps LB from flowing to ball DL need to play 2gap responsibility then they free up LB to flow and you can bring up safety to do several thing from outside contain to stunt to play side or delay blitz .

This can't be life.....

I've defended JC all season to South Warren folks. When they didn't attempt to win the Belfry game they lost some luster. Seeing them struggle against Scott and Wayne County in games most thought they would dominate while South Warren is absolutely destroying all comers makes it hard to feel good about JC's chances to win and possibly score.

I'll take this comment a step further and say the entire 4A Championship game has made me chuckle a bit.

Not only are JC fans demanding respect, but on the other side you have South Warren doing their own little dog and pony show of self entitlement as well.

The Spartan fans don't just want respect...they want people to bow at the feet of the team who needed realignment to finally get them over the hump.. but now they want to contend the KHSAA should schedule them and Male for Statewide Supremacy

Good to know where you stand....

Don't think your giving enough credit to Wayne and scott...JC has yet to play their best game and both were on the road 3 plus hours while battling injury.

I've seen Wayne County play. If JC can't play their best game against those two teams then they are going to be in trouble on Sunday.

As a SW fan I promise you zero of the SW kids or parents of any of the players are taking this game lightly. If anyone believes you are going to walk onto that field at WKU and the opposing team just hand you the trophy. You have another thing coming ! Like I have said before" I like my teams chances just like JC should like theirs" . I believe this will be a good game. Good luck JC

I will also add ALOT of people want JC to lose because of their coach.

Many despise him for runnin up the scores and how he let his kicker get state record for longest FG

He is not likes by many at all.

And just how did he let his kicker get the state record? Please let me know.

I think he kind of likes it at this point. That game was a while ago.

I know...isn't it awful when a coach plays within the rules?!? Most coaches probably didn't even know that was a rule. Don't forget about the 89-yard punt...that has to be Matney's fault too.

I was having a hard time trying to decide whether or not it was worth going down to BG so late on a Sunday. But after listening to Coach Matney tonight, I can't wait to leave. He's love for this school and community is unmatched and makes me regret some of the things I have said about him in the past. He is clearly a coach that loves his kids and will do anything he can to give them the best opportunity. It's gonna be a battle no doubt, but as he said tonight, we ain't coming to the dance to set around, were coming to dance. Looking forward to Sunday.

Yeah there is also no rule on running up the score on very weak teams. It's called sportsmanship and ethics.
