I guess it depends if your team is playing in the finals or not??

Beechwood will have an early release day on Thursday and Friday has been declared a "snow day", no school. I hope to see all of Ft. Mitchell at WKU Thursday night.

 

Personally, I like having the game Thursday night more than having it Friday at noon.

Interesting how UK didn't take the thrashing from fans over this the same way WKU has gotten beat up.

 

One slight difference is the UK game was scheduled by the league in the summer/fall so the KHSAA and everyone knew this change was coming well in advance. WKU's field availability didn't become an issue until they started having success and the final decision couldn't be made until the very last minute. So the two aren't exactly comparable examples.

Think about the costs to see all the games.

 

If you live too far to commute to WKU daily, you have a minimum of two nights in motels plus meals out plus parking and gas to WKU and back and then sit in the weather. This could add up to at least $175 for two people. Plus maybe time off work.

 

VS. about $15 for Internet viewing and food at home.

 

If you don't have a dog in the fight and want to see the games then the online is the better deal financially.

Personally I prefer WKU over Commonwealth and Papa John.

 

I have been there 6 of the seven times they have been @WKU (I missed 2013). The last 5 times I have driven from Cincinnati (not NKY but on the west side near Mt Airy Forest). We make it a weekend and visit attractions in and near BG.

 

I would vote for keeping it at Western

It confuses me why people why people don't think from the economical standpoint of how it helps each city it's in. How does it help Louiville or Lexington? It doesn't really. This is a boom for our local economy. I understand that it's not centrally located, but if WKU isn't not good enough at least wait until the construction at EKU is done and move it to Richmond. Who wants to go to UK or Louisville where it looks like almost an empty stadium? I honestly think WKU is the perfect venue for high school championships, as will Eastern when they add their new side stadium and club level.

Like fans in Ky are approaching it from a nuanced angle. UK got a pass on shuffling the state tourney in hoops because it's UK. Don't act like it's more nuanced than that. If these shufflings with the state football tournament were happening at CWS there wouldn't be word one said in objection. Stop acting like UK/Lexington favoritism is a zero factor in this state. It's just dishonest.

First, I'm not being dishonest. I'm simply saying that while there are similarities there are also pretty big differences. I AM looking at it from a nuanced angle - I think you've known my posts long enough to know I'm not a homer or a shoot from the hip complainer.

 

Now, might these complaints of others be lighter were it at UK? I'm sure of it. Because a sizable majority of Kentucky considers Lexington dead center and it isn't.

KHSAA needs to bring in an Event Coordinator person with experience in doing events, they obviously have no idea what they are doing.

So now that they know this is a great possibility in the future with the way WKU's program is improving, Change something, Playing on SUNDAY is ridiculous period.

Personally, I have always preferred two games on Friday, two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday.

As someone who goes to this thing every year to watch all 6 games, I cannot like your post enough. I have said it before, it needs to be a 3 day event. I would LOVE this.
