Why are there no Friday night games?

 

I think Friday is booked for college practices and TV preparation. There may also be logo/painting work to be done on the field.

Trinity/StX game a few Friday's ago was a 7:30 kickoff at PJS with the Louisville/Virginia game a noon kickoff on Saturday.

 

Just curious why they could turn PJS in that timeframe but not at WKU.

 

Doubtful the college teams would be practicing at 7:30, so has to be some other reason.

Beechwood and Pikeville has to get out of school early on Thursday and also miss school on Friday due to late time and about 4 hour drives. And they lose and off day in Feb.

As to the quality, I believe the Founder of Prepspin is producing (and/or somehow involved in putting the broadcasts together) and if so I assume the quality is going to take a step up.

 

I really think we should be thankful we have access (even if it is paid) to live video of the games.

We'll make a note of that when schools are missing weeks at a time for snow in January and spending all week in Lexington for the Sweet 16.

As far as changing locations on short notice the logistics of it are just too tough. I do however see it changing as soon as this contract with Western runs out. My guess is now that CWS has synthetic turf you will see it moved there.

 

There are a couple of places you could have it but honestly you have to look at things like are there enough hotel/motel rooms for teams and fans, places to eat, parking, etc.

 

I do think that Western and Bowling Green have done a good job, but travel is such a complaint for most that I think it will be moved. Plus Lexington has the Sweet 16 so the Gridiron Championships should not present a problem. They already have baseball, and Track and Field to go along with the Sweet 16 so why not add football?

 

I am sure there are some other factors we are not considering. Like how good will WKU's QB be next year? Will Brohm stay at WKU? How often does WKU figure to host the CSU Championship game? Would the KHSAA have to find another Title Sponsor if they moved the games away from WKU?

 

I am with all of you, this year stinks but that's the way it goes. WKU is by far the best venue for the games so hopefully 2015 is just an anomaly.

Why did they go to a "pay" model. It used to be free. Surely that is still possible. And, I don't want the "it keeps attendance down" because the people watching at home would not travel to the games no matter if it was available online or not.

Plenty of time for Beechwood students to get to the game on Thursday night. It is a 3-3 1/2 hour drive and game time is 8 pm EST. If you leave at 4 pm, you are there well before kickoff. School on Friday is a problem.

My cards on the table here, the KHSAA is very kind to me and the Commish, Butch, Joe, and my bestie Marilyn Mitchell all pick up the phone when I call them and they are all very helpful but I don't ask questions like that my brother Ram.

 

If you want me to speculate, the KHSAA is looking for another revenue source and I can't blame them. They have more and more sports (like Bowling and Bass Fishing - and there is nothing wrong with either of these sports/activities) they have to administer and my gut says the funding doesn't keep up with the demands placed on the KHSAA so they have to be business smart.

 

Put it this way Ram, if nothing else the fact everyone has to pay probably means the quality is going up. And for 14.95 you can watch all six games, sounds like a real deal to me.

And, as a side point, the quality is only as good as the ISP, and in many areas of the state the bandwidth is not great for streaming, so you have people paying for, what may be a quality product, but they get an OK product.

You can watch all six games on the net for less than the price of admission, parking, and gas to get to WKU so your complaint scores a zero with me.

For example everyone, if you call the police and the Kentucky State Police show up to help you that is basically government assisted police protection. In other words, people that pay their fair share have a city police department and/or a Sheriff's Office to serve them.

Yea, because you can always count on traffic around Carrolton and Louisville to be a breeze. And at rush hour in Louisville no less. Tell ya what, you leave at 4, we will see you around halftime

Come on man, it's like buying a large sweater and getting it and it's a "large youth". Yea, it's worth money, but it's not worth what you paid for it because you can't wear it.

 

But, I digress, it's a paid service, some think it's worth the price, some don't. I can pay for it, I can watch it, just seems a little nickel and dime to charge for it to me.
