The Homers game of the week should be a classic! Much like the Murray/Catholic matchup a week ago, ive been looking forward to calling this one all season long. Rash stadium is going to be ROCKING come Friday night. I think the story of the game will be who can limit the big plays from the big play running backs. Carothers & Board are both special backs. OHS does field a VERY nice front 7 defensively that has the potential to dominate a game. My heart says Owensboro wins this thing, but my head says BG finds a way. I really dont have any rhyme or reasoning for it other than i need to see OHS get over the hump vs BG to believe it.

ApolloFan98 is a HUGE Vikings fan. While making his prediction on last night's show, he was sporting his Purple, white, and gold Vikings hoodie? Coincidence? I think not!

 

I actually find no fault in his logic. BG has absolutely owned OHS for quite some time now. While I see no reason that OHS can't win this game, I totally understand people being skeptical of OHS until the Devils can get the job done.

Thanks for listening. We do take a lot of pride in the show and hope everyone enjoys it. We really want to bring as much spotlight to the kids as possible. The social media reaction is pretty good, as was the listens from the Catholic/Murray play by play this past Friday.

 

As for the game, i do think this is a toss up. I see a VERY even matchup. OHS has the advantage in Rash stadium but i think BG has the advantage in the rivalry matchup. I think it comes down to the 4th quarter and which team can make that big play. Ill stick with my prediction of the Purples much to the dismay of the OHS brethren AND maybe because its purple is my favorite color(being a diehard Vikes fan).

BG needs to protect or have an answer for their QB from Owensboro D ends who like to come off the edge. Red Devils has more experience players who have been battle tested in the playoffs and BG has the mental edge just because they are who they are.

I don't understand this comment exactly. BG juniors have a state championship ring and the seniors have 2.

True not over looking that and usually BG has a ton more experience than their opponents in the playoffs. Guess I'm going on last season where Owensbore went two more rounds. The Red Devils return like 8/9 guys on the defensive side from their state run last season. I might be wrong i bet Owensbore has more seniors starters than BG.

I don't think experience or any of that will matters. Both squads are battle tested, and you could probably even argue that BG is more battle tested from a schedule standpoint. Actually, I'd say BG is, but it'll come down to who makes the fewer mistakes on Friday. When you have two teams that are so evenly matched, it'll come down to which team brings their best game. I do think Rash Stadium will be as electric as ever, and if the fans bring the noise makers, it could be tricky for BG's offense if they audible.

I can see your point. Carrothers is so explosive, that good traction and a fast surface will only help that. I do feel as though Owensboro's defense is significantly better than last years. LB Tavian Board has been lights out and OHS' front 3 can cause so much havoc by themselves. BG certainly has the athletes to be make explosive plays, but so does OHS. Again, it's the immoveable object vs the unstoppable force scenario, which is why it'll come down which team makes the fewest mistakes.

 

Rash is a special place, but at no time is it better than deep in the playoffs for big games. I fully expect the place to be standing room only and LOUD. OHS fans really want a football state title. 1986 is too long ago, and they should've had it last year, and blew it. The players are hungry, the fans are in a frenzy, and the joint will be hoppin on Friday.

 

As for the future....there are going to be some battles. BG has some nice talent and a stud in Vito Tisdale. OHS will have many good athletes coming up and of course a playmaker of their own in Imonte Owsley. I fully expect some wars in the future. OMS also has a great 7th grade team. They weren't challenged the entire season, and it's a shame that OMS' football programs don't participate in the middle school state tourney. Owensboro has a nice run of great athletes coming up and if they can keep them all together and develop them, OHS COULD take the next step (ie what BG has accomplished) in the future.

These two teams have been playing each other forever. They know each other pretty well. They've played a little basketball against each other over the years, as well. If we have to lose to anyone, I hope it's Owensboro.

Owensboro is due a win in this series. That being said, I'm taking the Purples.

Your right... OHS is due a win in this series. I think right now they may be playing better football. Gross has a few more games under his belt and the emergence of Landon Board in that backfield has been huge. They will be w/o a key player in the Gardner kid I believe. I think survives and advances in this one. If this was in BG I would feel a little different but I believe these 2 teams are so close that the home field will play a role. Bold prediction: Gross has 2 TD passes in this one and OHS holds Carouthers under 100 yards.
