There is no such thing as "the media." There are thousands of info sources that are collectively referred to as "the media," but each info provider is different. There are more ways than ever today to obtain "news." I think part of the problem is that too many Republicans who post on BGP -- also part of "the media" -- rely too heavily on TV for information.

for all Americans . A strong free and impartial press is critical to keeping the public informed and keeping those in power from running amuck over the general population . Now we have " journalist like George Stephanopalous who is nothing more than a lifelong democrat operative . And now CBS is having its debate moderator meet PRIVATELY with each democrat candidate prior to this weeks debate . The entire nominating process is a joke on the democrat side . There is no conservative press because those other media outlets prefer to broadcast pure propaganda.

To quickly explain more what I meant by a huge press bias hurting society .. I would hope we could all agree that a free unbiased press keeps BOTH parties in check . And if both parties know they cant get away with lies and general misrepresentations they might be more honest with the public ( wishful thinking ) . But with ABC , NBC , CBS , MSNBC and CNN all considered national new outlets that are obviously biased towards the democrat party we have a party bold enough to hijack an nominating process and nominate a candidate who is under FBI investigation . That weakens the process of picking our leaders by the reporting of news that is terribly biased . That hurts us all . Having said that I cant believe anyway with common sense needed that explained to them .

The media has a "lazy" bias. They don't do their jobs. They don't fact check stuff, don't really report. Their idea of covering a story in a balanced way is to trot out a liberal talking head, and a conservative talking head, and then just let them talk. But they never really challenge either side. So we get nowhere.

 

This may sound crazy, but I think the best news reporting was on The Daily Show. It was clearly liberal in its bias, but they were brilliant, and funny, in checking stuff, and digging up old clips. The media needs to do that, to both sides. It is a sad indictment of the press when the best reporting was done by a comedy show.

I think most understand but the link to lowering our standard of living is confusing. At least to me.
