November 8, 201510 yr With tonight's win, CovCath becomes the 2nd school in KY to be able to say they have won a State Championship in Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer since 2000. Obviously Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer are one-class championships. The other school to accomplish this in this millennium is.....wait for it....LexCath. Thanks for the guy at McDonald's by Griffin Gate who gave me that nugget...but I waited until I could do a smidge of research to confirm.
November 8, 201510 yr Those darn Catholics! We need a separate playoffs for the privates!! Obviously just kidding. Congrats to CCH. Impressive!
November 9, 201510 yr Add hockey and lacrosse to LexCath. Are there a dozen teams that play either sport in KY?
November 9, 201510 yr Are there a dozen teams that play either sport in KY? Probably about as many as played girls' beer-league softball in the final years before the KHSAA mercifully put that old nag out of its misery, much to the chagrin of NoKy folks, who made a big stink out of that one.
November 9, 201510 yr Are there a dozen teams that play either sport in KY? Hockey - no. With the loss of the minor league teams in both Louisville and Lexington that sport has defniitely stuggled at the HS level and has limited opportunity due to lack of ice in Kentucky in general. There are only 7 total ice rinks in the state (1 in Owensboro, 1 in Northern Kentucky, 2 in Lexington and 3 in Louisville. LexCath's program folded 3 years after winning the state in 2008 when they shut out both St. X and Trinity in the quarterfinal and final. Most of the Lexington teams are now 'metro' (no single school affiliation). I believe some Northern Kentucky Schools have programs but they play with the Ohio teams. Lacrosse continues to grow with over 30 teams. All Fayette schools (public and private) have programs, Louisville and Oldham area HS have 12 teams. Northern Kentucky has three programs including CovCath and Dixie Heights. Computer Rating

I can guarantee one state championship they will not get is something Highlands and St Henry did this weekend: Girls Cross Country. :lol2:

November 10, 201510 yr When they win one in volleyball I'll be really impressed. :sssh: Seriously, that is quite an accomplishment. Congrats to Covington Catholic.
November 10, 201510 yr Random question. This seems like a good enough place to do it. Why is field hockey a KHSAA sanctioned sprort? Do even 20 schools offer this sport? Lacrosse has over 30 schools and is not KHSAA sanctioned. Does this have to do with the KHSAA needing to offer the same amount of boys state championships as girls? Not trying to rip on field hockey or promote lacrosse just simply asking and wondering.
November 10, 201510 yr With all the transgender athletics, dont be shocked to see an all boys school win a few girl sports titles. Im sure Cov Cath has some big boys that could win girl volleyball games.
November 11, 201510 yr With all the transgender athletics, dont be shocked to see an all boys school win a few girl sports titles. Im sure Cov Cath has some big boys that could win girl volleyball games. I doubt it. My money would be on the girls.

Im sure Cov Cath has some big boys that could win girl volleyball games. As part of a fundraiser I think it is, CCH Boys play NDA girls in a volleyball match each year. I think the girls have run every year that they have done this.
