Heard a lady scream the defense had a false start last Saturday. If you're going to be 'that guy (or lady)', at least take the time to understand how the game is played.

That is why I can very seldom sit with my wife at any sporting event. she yells before, during and after every single play and her vernacular needs a lot of help.

I do the same. Sit with the guys and am usually quiet. The moms sit together and are usually loud (sorry in advance for everyone I just offended....)

A couple years ago I was coaching a U10 girls soccer match. My team was winning by several goals. It wasn't a close match. A father of a girl on the other team started yelling at the ref. He was told to be quiet and yelled even more so the ref told him to leave the field area. The game was help up waiting for this guy to leave. He slowly proceeded to the parking lot, which was still in sight of the field, and then started yelling again once the game resumed. His daughter was balling her eyes out and had to be removed from the game. I was done with this guy so I yelled at the man to look at his daughter, she is in tears, she is is embarrassed by him and to please be quiet. He finally stopped yelling and we finished the match.

 

The sad thing is I am sure many others on here can share similar stories.

I try my best to avoid parents all together.

 

Question, why do they yell when there is NO CHANCE IN HELL the players on the field can hear them? :idunno:

I was at a high school game last year and sat in the stands, which I usually avoid at all costs, when a lady from the opposing team starting yelling for her son to tackle the guy in front of him.....the only problem with that is that her son was an offensive tackle, her husband tried to explain this to her, and she in no uncertain terms told him to keep his mouth shut, she fully understood the game of football and didn't need his help. Needless to say, I decided it would be better for me to hang out at the fence like I normally do.

There was a couple that knew next to nothing about football...but they yelled on almost every play good or bad. The best part was that since they knew nothing they would listen for others to say something then would repeat it over and over loudly. A few times when I had to sit in ear shot of them I'd say something completely wrong knowing they would yell about it. For example on a kick I'd say that's pass interference loud enough for them to hear and they would yell Pass Interference at the top of their lungs. I had more fun out of them than I should have. :lol2:

Almost unbearable at times.

I personally don't like any yelling at the refs. They are out there doing the best they can. Refs make mistakes and I for one feel that the mistakes even out over the course of the year.

 

I did although see a ref make a mistake in a state title game that cost my team a state championship. The play was on a forth and goal play. The Quarterback was clearly stopped short of the goal line and the line judge clearly raised his right a and spots the ball short. The quarterback makes another effort to score and the ball is knocked out of his hands and one of his linemen recovers the ball in the end zone. Touchdown.. The only problem is the ref acted line he never spotted the ball when you can clearly see he did spot it short on film. I could not believe that he did not tell the Referee that he blew the play dead and spotted the ball. I had heard that the crew was suspended for the first game of the next season but cannot confirm that. Now that worth yelling about.

Ha ha ha...let's all laugh at the moms who don't know anything. I've seen more than my share of morons in the stands and half of those people are men.

 

Like LB said, the refs and players can't hear most of what you are yelling anyway! #wastedeffort
