Have to admit, I got it wrong in a pee wee football game years ago while coaching, cant remember the exact call, but when I talked to the whitehat regarding the call, he reminded me that this wasn't the NFL, high school rules on certain calls were different. Point well taken, felt like an idiot. I'd like to think that was the last time it happened, but I'm sure I put my foot in my mouth a number of times since.

I have come to believe that the only reason they put forward the "points of emphasis" is to focus coaches' complaints on specific calls, thus reducing the level of complaining overall... I sure doesn't seem to be because they are actually focusing on those things, a lot of times.

It's really funny to listen to fans at a HS game and how they reference college and NFL rules. The best one is "he was out of the tackle box" on an intentional grounding call. Or the OL of the kicking team was down field prior to the punt. Then they want to argue with you when you try to tell them that's not a rule on Friday night.

Player, coach, referee, spectator....pick one and only one. Thats the 'rule'.

Never have I said that. Specifically since I once pulled an official's flag out of his pocket and threw it on the field once. :sssh:

The reason I normally don't post in these type of threads is because while I find the stories amusing , I'd be lying if I said I didn't yell at an official or two as a player and as a fan.
