For all the phony haters saying this game was hard to watch... go look out the window with a blanket over your flabby legs for a while.... it was rivalry football. There were defensive stops, some mistakes made and taken advantage of... it was high school football. and it was close to the end... I guess you prefer the days when Highlands and Cov Cath blew Boone and Ryle out of the water 20 seconds into the game???? they weren't too long ago and lasted generations.

 

Yea, I prefer the days when Highlands blew everyone out of the water 20 seconds into the game as boring as that may have been. As to date Highlands has a losing season. The teams they have won against are bad. I want to beat a team that Highlands is not expected to beat.

Fact of the matter is this team won today and now moves on to play Grant County next week, but I guess they are losers in your mind because they are 3 and 5 and will be District Champs again after next week and will enter the playoffs 0-0 like every other team in the state of Kentucky.

 

Keep plugging boys and play with the emotion and energy that you played with today and things will work out just fine no matter what the supposed know it alls have to say.

In a world where the bluebirds have started the season losing to a host of teams that they usually dominate... could they, would they turn it around and storm the playoffs????

 

The cool thing about the birds being "down" is how cray it would be if they won state this year after all of this.... and they could.... It would be cool because the bluebirds are playing a different part this year... the underdog... could the birds be the best at that too??? we'll see. I think it would be movie worthy if they sunk to this low and then brought it back to the highnessssss

I know Pulaski has no weaknesses and cant be beat, but I remember an unbeatable bluebird team that got beat by Collins right? Pulaski has a long bus ride north to Cov Cath or Highlands..... we will see.

I am not ashamed of what these Highlands players are doing. I want them to play the best that they can. Personnally, I think they can reach a little deeper down and pull up their boot straps and pull out some wins and show what they are made of. If the leadership is there it will show.

I think they will improve down the stretch.

A little bird did recently tell me that they conditioned a lot less in the off season this year? whatupwidat? that was always the bird way.... we will condition twice as good as you. I do have a problem with that if it is the case. frankly I don't believe it though, weinrich was more of a stickler than Mueller when it came to conditioning to my memory.

I can imagine... there is a small strange part of me that sometimes wishes Cov Cath would win to make the rivalry less one-sided in recent times. Then the large part of me beats up that small part of me. The rivalry is immortal as far as I know. Cov Cath might have a bad record w highlands over the past 10 years but most of the time it is close. I don't know how in all the one touchdown wins in the past 10 years they haven't gotten one in there. It must be seriously maddening for them to be so close for so long and not get a W. keep on your toes birds they are in the shadows. Hey Clyde, who is your team ? just curious.

 

Birdman - as a fan of CCH, you're right, it is very frustrating. But, regardless of how it looked, I really enjoyed watching both sides compete yesterday. Kudos to Hergott - he's been blasted on BGP this year. He made plays and guided that offense turnover free. As we all saw, turnovers played a huge part in the outcome. They were not the sole reason for the outcome, but man, securing the football is so important. Good job Birds! I hope both sides earn a rematch in Ft. Thomas.

It was a good win. Liked the grit Highlands showed and the fact that Hergott was put in a position to succeed. I saw the earlier matchup predictions but not sure they will be as posted. If Montgomery beats Anderson they end up on the top side of the bracket and play Grant Co with the winner getting the Highlands-Woodford winner. We will see Friday. Nice thing this year is if Highlands keeps winning they keep playing in Fort Thomas right through until Bowling Green. Go Birds. (Hey coach, how about working on a screen play for Pulsfort? The kid has good wheels!)

Defense for the Birds plays well when they get penetration. Robinson had a fantastic day at DT. Hebel was pancaking guys on the O Line. Hergott led them on the key drive to go ahead. I think he gained some confidence today. The rollout pass only works when it's a throw to the sticks. He throws a nice ball. He made a couple nice runs today as well.

 

Mayer is going to be fine. He has great composure and throws a nice spiral. He threw the one pick to ice the game right at Bowden. The earlier INT went off the hands of the receiver. I don't think it was totally his fault. The BALL Was catchable, Bird defender just sat back and waited on it. Only a soph I expect him to be one of the best over the next 2 yrs.

 

Should be a fun rematch in the Fort later in the playoffs.
