He was impressive in week 1 I'll give you that. I'm not going to compare em though. I think Hergott can be effective with some solid play calling. He doesn't have many stud targets to throw to either. Let's face it. Vennaman was such a huge threat lastvyr, they truly miss him.

True, but going into this year there was a lot of talk about how good the WR Corp was and howntheynwould platoon them again.

 

Hergott has the size and arm strength needed IMO. Just not the accuracy downfield is all. What he needs is a running game behind him to open things up downfield. That has been the biggest problem in my opinion this year for Highlands. It all starts up front and when that doesn't work then weaknesses are exposed and I think your QB position is a weakness this year.

Agree. Threw him the ball once that I recall but may have been more. Seems they could put him and Pitzer out wide and throw the ball up to them. I realize Pitzer is going both ways but he appears to have more value to this team on offense right now.

 

Kind of my MMQB thought. Pitzer can be such a weapon.

It's tough to automatically think 2 bad teams will automatically make it to round 3 of the playoffs. It very well could happen but it is a for gone conclusion with many on here. If the game yesterday showed anything it showed that if any opponent they play have an ounce of offense then it will be tough for these two teams to make it to round 3.

 

The talk about a rematch is based on the relative strength of CovCath and Highlands versus the district that they match up against. Take the time to look at the teams that would be the road blocks to such a rematch.

 

No one said automatic, but these 2 "bad" or "average" teams both have a great chance to make the final 8 with one making the state final 4.

Talk about improvement. Brown has improved a ton over the course of the season and he was already better than Hergott to begin with.

At the end of the day, Highlands is now 3-5 and plays the next team on their schedule this week which is Grant County. CovCath is now 2-6 and plays the next team on their schedule this week which is Dixie Heights. Good luck to both teams and continue to work hard in the hope that you can play again in 5 weeks.

 

There are no "guarantees" in life, but continued hard work throughout the weeks ahead could very well make that possible and if it does not happen it certainly will not be the end of the world.

Highlands has a half dozen or maybe more kids in the defensive rotation who weren't on defense those games. The offense has gotten better, but did play a bit too conservative for my liking. I think one thing is safe to say. Cooper and Ryle will again put the pads away before Highlands as usual.

JOAT ... I love your support for the boys in a tough season, but you are getting a little too sensitive. Comparing one QB to another is not really knocking a kid. Every thread on this site includes comments comparing teams and players to each other.

That is true, but CCH has a knack at getting some pretty talented players. He should have some weapons around him the next couple years I would hope.

Getting the talent hasn't been an issue. Keeping them healthy has. Playing David vs. Goliath every week takes a toll.
