Boone County 4 Walton Verona 0

Scoring for Boone were Abdul Ajwa, U. Martinez, Muhamed Yecatom, and Anton Paoli. I believe Yecatom also had an assist on Martinez's goal. Paoli's score was a corner kick that bounced off a WV player for an own goal.

Boone boasts quite an international lineup. It's pretty cool.

Boone recognized its 15 senior players at halftime for Senior Night. Each boy had a 2 1/2 foot poster that was mounted on the fence and a sign with his name and number lining the walk leading to the stadium. The player's family escorted him on the track down in front of the crowd as the PA gave interesting facts, memories and coach's comments. I didn't know the coach was so funny as he tailored his comments to the player with appropriate humor. Each player and his escort stood by a large planter of mums that were then given to his Mum. The efforts of those who organized and pulled this off are greatly appreciated. The Boone County parents are great people! When the festivities were over we woke up the WV parents to let them know the second half was about to begin.

WV competed closely with Boone for a good portion of the first half. Yecatom is a large presence in the middle of the field and made it tough going for WV. WV didn't seem to be able to mount much attack at Boone's goal, though they did have a couple of legit opportunities. By the end of the first half things were getting away from WV. Boone's defense was swarming keeping the dribbler boxed in and gave few passing options. WV had a 1 v 1 opportunity when #7 Moran got free but Boone's goalie, Enrique' Espinoza, came out and made a terrific save.

You can see talent on WV's team but they could not put things together. Leffler is pretty comfortable up front in the middle of the field. He doesn't get rattled and handles the ball well in traffic. When he can't advance the ball he is able to pull up and pass the ball to open feet. When there is no one to pass to he bides his time until he finds an open WV player. Martin, as usual, is all over the midfield competing for everything he can get to. Moran is a big strong kid and turns the ball upfield towards the goal with purpose.

Titan's coach got a picture of the 4 boys together after the match. I'm sure his wife can email it to you.

OldGrap......you have a Coach that does it the right way.....he knows the game, the right way to play it and gets to know the players and prioritizes in the right order. Hang on to him, he will be great for your kids and make the soccer program great !

Glad you had a great Senior night !

I think you are right, there OTB. I didn't know anything about him until after he was named coach. He knew the former coach (even coached Nathan Browning a couple of years) and I think that is how he got in at Boone. Apparently, he has a Cov Cath connection which is how you know him, I suppose.

I expect Boone to go through a couple of rough years but I see a bright future for the team as they build up the talent level again. They do have some good players coming up.

Former coach Nathan Browning was at the Senior night, also, with his lovely family. My son appreciated seeing him there. He got his first chance on varsity his sophomore year on a pretty good team and is grateful to coach Browning and the senior players from that year for encouraging him.
