When the offensive coordinator left, Meyer gave the job to the Oline coach to secure him for a few more years. As it turns out, it wasn't the best move, not at this point in time at least.

 

As good as Meyer is offensively it has taken some of his OCs over the years some time to get used to the controls. Herman was good from day 1, but Addazio and Mullen both "struggled" in their frat season in the offense. Similar thing this year. Mullen got really good, Addazio wasn't good until he became a HC. We'll see with the current HC.

 

If I'm them I go wih Barrett and have a package for Jones. Jones gets a Tebow package, short yardage, change of pace.

 

Barrett is rusty this year but he's the more efficient passer IMO. More accurate, faster, and just from watching it seems like the players respond to him a little better this year.

It will be interesting to see how N-ILL fairs this season.

Your man Cardale has lost the job. JT will be fine if Urban gives him the keys and stops playing musical chairs.

 

The only thing with JT we know he can put up great numbers against a weak schedule. He has only beat one good team as a starter. So as I said before he probably will put up great numbers again in regular season. However no one knows how he will play in the end against top competition.

 

Now I do completley agree they need to settle on a qb and go with it. Even in practice Jones probably wasn't getting all the normal first teams reps. They need to name a starter and let him get all first team reps in practice and stick with with that one for the game. Also agree on them missing their OC from last year.

It just seems like OSU is out there going through the motions on offense, they better step it up otherwise MSU will eat them alive. A lot of time between then and now.

 

Defensively they look fine, what I think is the issue is they have too many horses and the QBs both look bad, need the #1 reps. Cardale would be better IMO because he brings something to the table that will help them beat the SEC team in the playoffs

OSU QBs are #99 in QB rating and #115 in QB rating on 3rd down.

 

They finished last year #2 in the country.

I think it is just a perfect example of college players well, acting like they are in college. To me it seemed like they were not as fired up and excited...hey it happens. Fortunately for OSU, they are so talented, they have a larger margin for error in games like this than almost any school in the nation.

Well John Anthony it didn't see like JT helped them out much more either. Both qbs looked bad today. Maybe they really do need to try the third qb route again...

 

Ohio state has their scare and now they will be fine and will blow next weeks team out.

If the 3rd guy is Collier, heck yeah, bring him in for a series or two. That would be freaking awesome to see! Even if he is 4th or 5th, who cares it would be incredible to see a kid with NKY taking snaps for OSU!!!

They look an awful lot like the 2014 edition of FSU. Win the ring, get complacent. There is not doubt there are the most talented team in the country. There is a huge doubt if they are hungry and focused enough to repeat.

Urb will decide on the QB for the rest of the season this week. The biggest problem with Cardale and JT is that they're polar opposite. JT is a spread offense, uptempo guy. Cardale is a slower tempo, pro style guy. The line and receivers cannot get in a rhythm whatsoever.

Urb, IMO, is a power running guy, more specifically a single wing guy. All the WR's are just for show, it is not like he ever runs a passing offense out of the spread.

 

For his offense, the only thing that really seems to change based on the qb is zone read and option. JT is suited for the zone read and option stuff(Smith), where Jones is more suited to the qb power and qb counter stuff(Tebow). They need to not try and combine the two for the qbs, maybe call the offense more specifically to the qb that is in the game.

 

I agree on the OC being a bit of a problem but I think he will figure it out as he goes and the schedule allows for that to happen.

Very true and also he the passes when he needed to that. The only game I don't think they win last year with JT was against Bama. The throws he was able to make in that game into very small windows was something I don't think JT does. The throws Cardale made in that game was NFL type throws, and they needed everyone of them. With him connecting on those deep throws, it also allowed Elliot to keep doing his thing. OSU if they came up to stop the run then had to worry about Cardale beating them deep and with the deep intermediate routes, and if they sat back Elliot ran wild on them.

 

They are both great QB's.
