September 16, 201511 yr If educational rights are given to a family and it is signed on the Educational and Medical rights form provided by the AOC, Ft. Thomas schools have to allow the child to attend school. STATE LAW. The KHSAA guidelines cannot keep an individual from playing High School sports if the educational rights document was signed before the student started high school.
September 16, 201511 yr Author 150 year old houses. A ton of character on streets with 100 yr old Oak Trees ta boot. To each his own I guess. My home is 40 yrs old and my street is awesome. I just cringe when it comes time to pay the property taxes.
September 16, 201511 yr There is no federal funding being used for the residency check portion of this position. The Title 1 funds are being used to pay the Achievement Coordinator portion of the position. This is a win-win for FTIS. The system has Title 1 funds to pay the majority of the salary for this classified position. Residency checks are only about 20% of the total position created.

I don't think that's an issue they're concerned about. People claiming residency but not being residents avoid both the higher property taxes in Ft Thomas and the extra tuition fees.
September 16, 201511 yr I heard they have set up a payment plan for the Beagle brothers and Draud for reparations due! Now that's funny.
September 16, 201511 yr Is Highlands taking new out-of-district students or is there still a lockdown on that?
September 16, 201511 yr I do not know for sure that Beechwood is still doing the in home inspections, but my guess is yes. I know in years past they would go out to the claimed residence, check bedrooms for furniture, get the utility bills, the whole works.
September 16, 201511 yr Is Highlands taking new out-of-district students or is there still a lockdown on that? Certain classes are open. I think the 7 grade class is on Lockdown. There is over 300 students in that grade alone. Wowza! Lets just say for example that there is a 150 boys in that class. Only 35 of them came out for Junior Football this year. It hit us pretty hard this year in the FTJFL with the lack of Participation from that Class alone. Hopefully they come back out next year..... #SCIT
September 16, 201511 yr On another note Boone County is reporting over crowding issues on buses. I like that Ft. Thomas is being proactive.
September 17, 201511 yr I have a customer of mine that lives in the Oakbrook subdivision of Florence......sent their son to Woodfill for 2 years (for those that don't know, it's a grade school in Ft. Thomas) and is now at Highlands. Yes, they are tuition paying parents and NO, son is not a football player. That's a long drive every morning.
