September 12, 201511 yr If I am not mistaken Hanover recruits a lot of guys from Kentucky. I wonder if they are getting much playing time?
September 12, 201511 yr I was there for the first couple of series. Hanover is really bad. Every receiver was WIDE open.
September 12, 201511 yr Highlight of the day was Mitch Kramer's younger brother wearing Mitch's jersey while carrying the hammer and leading the team into the stadium.

September 13, 201511 yr Hanover's head coach and I were teammates....on the 5th ranked team in the country heading into the playoffs. A lot has changed to hamstring Steve. One of those, and most important, is the recruiting base. Kids that used to go to Hanover are now going to the Mount, TMC, Franklin, and Centre. Hanover is SO expensive now, I don't know how Steve brings them back. Sucks, bc you won't find a better campus in our area.
September 13, 201511 yr Sounds like Hanover is one of those teams that could be a part of the "Could great high school team beat bad college team" debate.
September 13, 201511 yr Brenan Kuntz got his first start and was 13/18 228 yards 3 tds. Not a bad win with a QB making his first career start. Word is that Gebhardt is nicked up a bit and could've played, but the staff thought they'd be fine without him yesterday. He should be back for Thiel this week.. and I'm sure they were happy with being able to get the #2 QB some real game action. TMC does need to value the ball more - you can't turn the ball over like that and expect to beat a good team (4 fumbles, 3 lost and 1 INT). Hanover is really bad - its shocking and sad to see such a proud program go downhill like that. I don't know what I would've said to the Hanover kids at halftime.
September 13, 201511 yr Here is the issue Hanover has had when it comes to recruiting. I know this first hand. the problem they have is they do not get their financial packages together until the Spring which for many is too late. Many schools have early decision periods and already have their financial packages for the students put together so the families know what they are offered in academic scholarships etc. already and by the time Hanover gets their package info to their recruits, many of them have already taken early decision because they knew what they were getting and didn't want to take the risk of waiting until spring for Hanover. This I know for a fact has cost them many good players from the area who decided to go elsewhere.

You are correct, family I know well had their son recruited by Hanover, he liked the school, loved the campus, but the family was afraid of the final cost, as they just did not know. MSJ came in with their final numbers much more quickly and the young man committed to MSJ. Not sure what the decision would have been had the timing of the offer been the same, but I do know that the delay made the decision that much easier.
September 14, 201511 yr Additionally, the Mount, TMC and Centre have really improved. The GCL kids we used to get go there now if they are going to stay in the recruiting area. Same thing in Indy. Leonard has turned Franklin into a top program. They are a threat to win one or more games in the playoffs consistently. Take that into account with Spring financial package offerings and it is tough for sure. Also, it is harder to get into now, so who Steve and his group can actually recruit has hurt him.
