Hanover's staff does a great job recruiting local guys. Just not enough draw to get kids down there to play.

I hope they rebound and have a good season.

Hanover's head coach and I were teammates....on the 5th ranked team in the country heading into the playoffs. A lot has changed to hamstring Steve. One of those, and most important, is the recruiting base. Kids that used to go to Hanover are now going to the Mount, TMC, Franklin, and Centre. Hanover is SO expensive now, I don't know how Steve brings them back. Sucks, bc you won't find a better campus in our area.

How does the cost of tuition at Hanover compare to MSJ, TMC, Centre, etc?

Just a guess but less than Centre, more than TMC and the Mount. I couldn't afford to go there if I was looking at schools

Correct.

At least 2 years ago that is the case.

If you are a student in a Catholic high school and maintain a 2.5 GPA, TMC makes it very attractive financially to attend by offering a $13,000 Parochial Promise scholarship (per year) to those who apply. There are a lot of other options on the table as well according to the TMC website.

I just did a couple quick searches and here is what I came up with:

Centre: $47,820

Denison: $43,910

Hanover: $34,514

Mount Saint Joe's: $26,500

TMC's wasn't readily available

For the sake of comparison, UK is about $9,000 in tuition.

Just curious, why did you include Denison?

Think Steve wishes he had Chris Stormer tossing to Tarrick Wilson right now? Those were the days!

Small, private D3 school in Ohio. newarkcatholicfan is a long-time BGP'er that lives near Denison and has provided some updates throughout the years.

Tell me about it. Or Welty domination from his NT position.

Didn't hurt to have Kevin O'Donahue at linebacker or Andy Shafer at safety, either. (Although now that I think about it, Shafer may have graduated the year before. Too long ago for my memory to be accurate!)

This thread brought back a lot of good memories my son and I doing recruiting

road trips. I went back through e-mails and found one from Coach Baudendistel from Hanover basically asking why my son choose MSJ over Hanover and what can he do to reach out to young men in NKY area.

Coach Baud was recruiting my son and was not the Head Coach at the time (we really didn’t care for the head coach at the time) we found out after that Coach Baud became Head Coach.

Really sorry to hear their not doing well Coach Baud is a great guy I actually talk to him after my son’s first game against Hanover. I told Coach Baud if he would have been the Head Coach at the time things might have been different and we talk some more but that I will keep between us.

Had very similar situation with Coach Baud. They recruited my son very hard. Came to a couple games but every week in the mail was a hand written post card wishing him good luck against whoever they were playing that Friday night. The first recruiting trip to Hanover, he was a part of a large recruiting visit with about 30 players but Coach reached out to him a couple days before the visit to see if he could come a couple hours early because his position coach and the OC and of course the HC wanted to sit down with him one on one as well as myself and wife. We sat down with each coach individually and there were only 3 players they did that for, all the rest met the coaches as one big group in their auditorium. They really wanted my boy to go there but the issue was always not getting that financial package until spring and by then we had to go with 1. the best academics decision and 2. the best financial decision at the time and if he would have waited until spring he may have lost some other opportunities.

I think Coach Baud just needs to get that information to the financial packages from the finance dept a lot earlier than spring. I think that has cost them many good recruits from the area.

I'm assuming you're NOT talking about Wayne Perry here. I've never heard anybody say anything negative about the guy. I'm trying to remember when he retired, though. I'm thinking there must have been one other guy in between Wayne and Steve.
