Manual is the biggest loser in this new "draw" format. Every year they will have to play Male or X in the first round. It's ashame that a consistent top 10 4-A team the past few years probably will be the underdog forever in first round games against Male and X.

Same for PRP an Butler too. This kinda stinks, but we are going to have to do better and overcome it. The thing is that a team like PRP, or Manual, can beat St.X and Male, but it is alot harder to beat one and follow that up with a win against the other the next week. That is the problem, it is mentally challenging as well as physically it will be harder the second game to win.

Manual's perennial opponent will likely be Male. And Manual can beat Male. Has done it, and has come agonizingly close about a billion times lately.

 

So, yes, I think Manual can win that first round game. Especially since it will be played on the heels of another Male-Manual game, and it's tough to beat a good team twice. Sometime, that's going to favor Manual.

Not if they win the district, correct? (This seems to be a reoccuring post when discussing the private/public debates: "Get better"). Although it is magnified because it is a Louisville 4A school in arguably the toughest district in the state, the same scenario plays out for a lot of other schools, just on a less visible level.

Yes, this makes a bad situation worse for Manual, but as I've been witnissing in the other threads (and is an obvious fact of life) nobody cares about us BUT us, so complaining about it (while just), really won't help in the matter. We're the sacrificial ram. Let's just hope our boys go out kicking the tar out of some bodies.

Not quite the same.

 

For one thing, in the previous system, a team from R2D3 could finish 1st or 2nd and avoid Male and St. X in the first round. And they get the added bonus of not being a district opponent of Male or St. X to get that 1st or 2nd spot.

 

If they could win their second and third round game (all at home if they were the 1st seed from their district) they get a week off from mayhem before having to play Trinity in the final.

 

In short, they were in Manual's old boat with the added bonus of playing as a higher seed in a weaker district. I would LOVE a return to those idyllic days.

This post makes no sense. We have been living in the same situation for years now, the difference is that your road just got easier and ours got harder. Our road was EXACTLY as hard as yours was before, we were in the same region.

Remember, you can't self impose restrictions on your own school district and then complain that others won't do the same. The practice is not only stupid but it is un-American.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this argument. I feel like Manual fans are arguing over how far they are going to get in the playoffs. It doesn't matter if you are out in the first round or the third round you still don't get the ring. I think for Manual fans your energy would be better spent on how your going to WIN state rather than what round you are going to be eliminated.

That sounds fine and dandy on paper. But when your path now looks like this: Round 1- Male/Round 2- X/Round 3- T. I can more than understand why they are up in arms. Remember Highlands playing Colerain and then X, and how beat up and abused those kids were after those two games? This is worse, and it's win or go home to boot...

Is'nt Manual at little larger than Highlands. Yea Highlands was beat up but they don't have the numbers to two platoon like the 4A schools can.

They get kids from other places with a change of address- not a ride like a private school- they don't get kids from other counties or states like the private schools without a move by the parents!!!!!!
